Am I the only one that's nervous? Probs cos of the let downs in well over 40 years supporting them. But hand on heart I think Peterbrough and Hull will be top 2 and we finish 3rd.
But we've got the monkey off our back with Wembley so worst case scenario we go up through the play offs.

Very nervous if I’m honest. I think we need to go up automatically as we won’t win the play offs.

I was there. Winning 2-1 at HT if memory serves. A toilet bloody seat came whizzing over our heads. Was devestated losing that game.
I went to the match with my wife and had standing tickets behind the goal but was a bit wary , approached a tout and managed to negotiate a trade in and a upgrade to some super seats on the half way line , sorted the deal and had to smile when he said I was right to move as those fuc**ng Mackems are mental - best to say nothing and took my tickets .Epic Game first class seats .

Peterborough have been rotten recently.

They've won one game in the last five including a defeat to Burton who we battered.

The game they won was a lucky 1-0 against managerless Portsmouth.

They have some bad injury concerns and conceded 3 to bottom team Rochdale.

I think they'll continue to falter and we'll overtake them before we play there.

Even if we end up in the play offs I'd be confident after our display at Wembley ....

... no one would want to play Sunderland.

yes i'm guilty, only weeks ago i posted that we'd maybe scrape the play-offs, but they've done a fantastic job of proving me wrong. If we can maintain the level we're playing at, we could finish top 2, but I still expect us to follow the hard route, and another playoff drama. Definitely excited for the future under KLD mind, I'm sure we're at last in good hands.

Of course I want us to go up automatically, but I enjoy tight hard games that give us a chance to show what we are made of. Atm.. we can raise our game from time to time... let's go for it... no fear

Note how @Mackem-Tiz was nervous at the start, but ended his post on a positive (breaking the Wembley curse).

You start out nervous and end up negative (we couldn’t go up via the play-offs).

There are ways to disagree without being so negative. For instance, instead you could have said something like 'I hope we finish top two and go up automatically because the play-offs can be a bit of a lottery and I don't fancy our luck holding out.'

You aren't just having a different opinion, you are being a mood hoover on the scale of Moyes!

Even worse, you bring your mood hoover on to this thread which was set up to be all upbeat and happy clappy!

For the first time in ages we're enjoying being Sunderland fans. Please don't keep on being a prophet of doom and pissing on our parade!

Balls to him, he's a pantomime act ...

... our biggest tests were at Lincoln, Portsmouth, Wembley, etc.

If Barton was any good he wouldn't be at a club like Bristol Rovers, he's at his level.

I don't get the admiration for Barton. I'm pretty sure that if he manages to stay out of prison he'll never manage above league one for any meaningful length of time. He'll get worse over the years as his persona wears thin.

**** him.

His views aren't real, just after a reaction.

He thinks we need to go up as one of the two best teams because we're incapable of winning the play offs against the same teams we'd need to finish above <laugh>

He's never a Sunderland supporter, never any joy when we win, just criticism of Johnson and virtually every player in turn. If it was up to his judgement we'd be down to 3 or 4 players by now.

He's either a Mag and idiot or a Bristol City supporter with some weird Lee Johnson grudge ...

... whichever, it's embarrassing behaviour.

... compared to the last two seasons.

I'm going to make the most of this and enjoy it as much as I possibly can.

With Ross and Parkinson it was a bit of a trudge but you never know what will happen next with Johnson.

There's some interesting games and I can't wait for our clashes with the likes of Peterborough, Hull, etc.

Oxford United v Lincoln City
Hull v Gillingham
Doncaster v Charlton
Sunderland v Oxford Utd
Peterborough v Sunderland
Charlton v Lincoln City
Sunderland v Charlton
Charlton v Ipswich
Peterborough v Gillingham
Hull v Sunderland

I think Hull are the ones we need to concentrate on. Win our games in hand and don't lose the game down there and we go up.
The Peterborough game is almost a freebie - if we can overhaul them, then so be it, but I'll take 2nd place. Hull will be very nervous about us IMHO

Iirc our record at their place is pretty good which is also a hope I'm clinging onto, not sure about away at Posh.

I don't remember us winning at Peterborough other than a cup game under MON. We've been turned over a couple of times down their in recent years IIRC

I'll happily take a point at both Hull and Pbo

After us winning at Wembley, Burton, Portsmouth, etc I'm no longer concerned about our previous records with clubs, that's all in the past for me ...

... we'd never beaten Newcastle six times in a row until it happened.

I'll just assume we can beat everyone until I'm proved wrong.

I have seen an article in football league world that indicates Sanderson being available for around £2m at the end of the season.
This seems to be a very low figure, but given the standards in league 1 is it realistic?
To me he looks like a mix of Beckenbauer and Van Dyke when he plays in a L1 game, he is obviously not that good but I think he is capable of playing in the PL and find it difficult to judge his real value.
For £2m I would take their hands off faster than a Saudi chopper.

He looks so poised it is difficult to remember how young and inexperienced he still is. £2m doesn't seem high for a L1 centre back, but we all know he looks to be more than that.

If I was in Wolves position then I wouldn't be looking to sell him. I would be looking to loan him to us to get him some championship level 1st team experience at the start of next season and then maybe either have a buyout clause in the loan or decide about selling closer to January.
