First one I remember was 1968 and Jeff Astle winning it for West Brom. Next year was heartbreak as we lost 1-0 to Man City (Neil Young - fine Citeh team tbf) and also got relegated - silver lining was that some season tickets were freed up as a result and we started going in the 1969/70 season which carried on until the old man died in '79.

Wes Brown won it with his local club, which he could walk to. As did Scholes and Giggs, none of them were bought, all them them were academy players. Does that make it somehow more special? Just wondering what the parameters are?

Not sure it is 'better' ... but if you took Kante's case it did demonstrate his individual impact on the 2 clubs concerned ... Nicky Butt won plenty with United... but would he have improved your closest rivals in that era?

yeah it will be a tough tie. They’ve dispatched you and Rangers.

Slightly easier than the Utd, Roma, Ajax route. But we’ll have to be at our best to progress.

Don't underestimate their dark arts ... they got Iheanacho booked and banned for the second leg against us by instigating and feigning contact that made it look like he had flailed an arm... all within 30 seconds of him coming on as a sub ... coincidence?

Mind you, they could well get thrown out as there is a right furore happening about the 'possible' rascism against Rangers ... you might end up getting a bye like United, after all <laugh>

Kante went to Chelsea bruv. Not to Burnley.

Mahrez went to city bruv. Not Newcastle.

Anything they've won with those two are about as meaningless as you can get.

Admittedly, not as bad as 'Pool who finished 21 points adrift of the title winners in that same season, mind. <cheers>
