****ing hell, the BBC think it’s a great idea to mark a year of pandemic with a week of programmes about the last year, and are using their news programmes to advertise smug Laura Kuenssberg talking to all her special friends in positions of power. The ****ing thing isn’t over yet, for crying out loud, give us a break.
I was listening to BBC news yesterday and today and a professor said that since the vaccine has been going out 17m doses, only 40 cases of blood clotting were reported. He went on to say that the risks of catching Covid far outweigh that of having the jab. Furthermore in the U.K. we have 3000 cases of blood clots a month in normal times.
What else was interesting is that the Pfizer jab has had just as many blood clots reported but the EU doesn’t have a problem with it?
The other BBC fella said that it was strange that in one breath they are complaining at not having enough doses and in the next they keep complaining about it? They have u-turned twice now.

It's crystal clear that the EU has totally cocked-up the roll-out of the vaccine from procurement to distribution and is now trying to deflect attention from their own shortcomings by any means possible. Meanwhile, as their member countries now endanger still more of their unfortunate 'subjects' with an unnecessary ban on the AZ vaccine a 3rd wave has sent Italy into lockdown and cases again rising throughout Europe. Italian 50-70year olds are now the danger group due to vaccine shortages as the EU plays politics with lives despite assurances from the WHO who can see another needless disaster unfolding in front of them...
30,000 jabs cancelled this week due to the temporary suspension on using the AZ vaccine........ We're already way behind on vaccinations due to deliveries being reduced due to supply issues at AZ........
As far as I can make out there have been no cases of blood clots being caused by the vaccine here, just as there's no evidence of that in the EU either, they are just being "cautious" we're told........

Given it’s a mix of EU and non-EU countries temporarily suspending AZ and some EU countries aren’t doing so, does this have to be used as an excuse to pile in on the EU? This is obviously a rhetorical question.
Scientists have warned that the Oxford jab suspension could be 'disastrous' as countries like France are already sceptical. The have something like 4-5 times more daily infections than us and are now moving people out of the Paris hospitals elsewhere. Italy is going/gone back into lockdown and as our cases/deaths are falling theirs are rising. I believe that this is just playing politics with peoples lives. Those comments by Macron were unfounded and reckless. Even the WHO has said it's safe.
Apparently in Norway a health worker died of a brain hemorage the day after receiving the AZ jab, the post mortem revealed no direct link to the vaccine......
In Italy a lady with under lying health issues died a day after receiving the AZ jab, again the post mortem revealed no direct link to the vaccine.......
Yet on the basis of these and some 30 odd other incidents these countries and others decide to pause the use of AZ....... Sorry but this doesn't make any sense and they are putting their own citizens at more risk........

You are right Ellers, I've no idea what games they are playing or if they are genuine with their fears. But this coupled with Macron's earlier comments and the already low uptake of the vaccine in those countries is very dangerous.
I don't know if its really a reaction to the perceived Britishness of the Astra Zeneca vaccine but if it is its the most pig headed and irresponsible stance to take.
Agree Frome. If they have a problem with a blood clot issues why not do the same with the Pfizer vaccine which has just as many?

A number of cases of blood clots were reported in Europe after the vaccine was administered.
But the numbers are below the level you would expect in the general population.
The UK medicines regulator and the WHO say there is no evidence of a link between the vaccine and clots.
A professor today said he thought there were actually fewer blood clot cases and the jab may even do the opposite to what they are saying.
One of my wife's main symptoms is blood clotting. She had the pfeizer vaccine and her only symptom was a sore arm. She spoke with her consultant at The Royal Free prior to having the jab. He said it's perfectly safe. He stressed that all people who have reactions of severity are often found to have had an undiagnosed illness and that's even if a link can be found to the vaccine anyway. Now I wasnt too good after the astra zeneca but was forewarned on the leaflet that over 1 in 10 will suffer a list of symptoms. The long and short of it is, I would risk the vaccine over covid anyday of the week.
Agree Bob nothing is risk free. TBH I don't like injections at the best of times. I always remember that bloody BCG injection at school leaving me with a small hole in my arm. However saying all that I have a history of Bronchitis and due to the lockdown I have put on a few pounds. I really don't want to be getting this disease so I will be going along when called. In the Bracknell/Wokingham (Berkshire) area they are doing really well and are now vaccinating 50+. I reckon I will be getting mine in the next 2-3 weeks.

The European Commission has agreed an accelerated delivery of the BioNTech-Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine, with 10 million doses for the second quarter of the year.
The doses would be drawn forward from the option of 100 million doses in the second BioNTech-Pfizer contract, foreseen for Quarter 3 and Quarter 4 of 2021.

There is no "ban" Soops. There is a temporary suspension which will probably be lifted today. There is a huge difference.

Hairdressers and garden centres will be allowed to reopen in Scotland from 5 April, days after the "stay at home" lockdown order will be lifted.
People will still have to stay inside their own local authority areas until 26 April, when the travel ban will be lifted within Scotland.
That date will also see all shops, gyms and tourist accommodation reopen, as well as some indoor hospitality.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said that "brighter days are ahead of us".
The "stay at home" order, which has been in place since December, will be lifted on 2 April - although Ms Sturgeon said people would be encouraged to "stay local" for a further three weeks.
Other changes - including the reopening of hairdressers, click and collect services and homeware shops and the resumption of outdoor contact sports for 12 to 17-year-olds - will be phased in from 5 April.
All children should return to school full-time after the Easter break, which for some will be from 12 April.

Whether it is a suspension or ban is irrelevant, those who should be receiving the jab are not. The percentages are so miniscule and no worse than those not receiving the jab yet only the AZ vaccine is questioned. Draw your own conclusions but with Europe on the brink of a damaging 3rd wave it is a senseless decision with statistics available. I hope you all get a jab ASAP, good luck...
I think a ban is a completely different thing to a temporary suspension. Safety comes first for all of us. I would rather they suspended jabs for a few days until it is confirmed it is safe again. Iceland, Norway and Thailand also temporarily suspended the AZ jabs but little or no mention of that in the anti-EU gutter press.
Considering how Astrazeneca has treated the EU up to this point, I don't think any European country owes them anything. They deserve the bad press they are getting for their complete failure to meet their contractual arrangements. A couple of weeks ago, we were expecting 42k jabs to arrive in a delivery. The day before the delivery, AZ advised we would only be getting 26k. When the delivery actually arrived, there was less than 10k jabs in the delivery. If this is how AZ do their business, no wonder a lot of EU countries are extremely annoyed with them. Remember, the EU paid them 365m euros upfront for the contracted vaccines and all they have done is treat the EU like dirt.
As regards a third wave, I noted Italy, Poland and Hungary are currently having high figures. The UK is roughly the same as Spain, Germany, France etc and other European countries are reporting really low figures including Ireland, Croatia and Portugal. The whole Continent is far from suffering a third wave. The vaccine roll out might be slower than the UK but for example, we haven't had a single death the last 3 days here so the effects are starting to be seen. In fact, our death rate is half that of the UK so just as well your vaccine roll out is starting to take effect as your death rate is still number one in Europe.
