I had a hospital appointment and followed the India innings while waiting to see the consultant, and the England innings on the bus home, via BBC text! The damage was done in the opening power play, in which England bowled 25 dot balls, which is pretty amazing against India.

Any highlights anywhere, does anyone know?

    Just Sky.

(Nothing against C4, but thank god we've got the Sky commentators back.)

Poor Dom! No, it was Archer and Rashid opening, and Rashid got Kohli for a duck!

Poor last three overs. Should have been looking at least 170 from there, maybe even 180 with an excellent finish.

Still, if we bowl as well as we did last time, this won't be easy.

Think we've got enough personally. Not easy to bat on.

For all the talk of India's poor fielding (and it was), Buttler and Stokes have badly dropped one each now.

    Ho hum.

However, what intrigued me was how big the crowd was and how close together everyone was....and how few wore masks. I know that Covid did not pass India by....so are they taking big risks? I note that they have a better recovery rate than most countries....is that down to the younger average age and lower average body weight? So many questions....stopped me thinking about how appalling England were today. Damn....now I'm thinking about it again.

Every time I see the cricket from India, I think the same, Fran. I’m quite shocked how they don’t seem to bother, especially considering that, until this thing is eradicated from everywhere, it’s likely to keep coming back .....
I tend to think that (sadly) money is the driving force behind letting fans back in, plus the fact that India clearly play better with a howling mob urging them on ..... or am I just a sad cynic?

I think it looks more crowded than it actually is. That stadium can seat 132,000 people, and they are only allowing half those numbers in. It’s still an awful lot of people, but they are making some effort to control the virus. They have a much lower death rate per head than we do, anyway.

Well, the remaining 3 matches are to be played behind closed doors so there's your answer.

The right thing to do...the crowd didn’t follow social distancing rules even though there was room and very few wore masks....and many that did, just hung them round their necks. Exactly the right conditions for a Covid surge.

I was thinking about the crowd catching the ball from a 6 and throwing it back covered in covid...

The ball was sanitised before returning to the players.
