Where have i said i object to NHS capacity being increased?
Me personally I'd have gone to the pub, work, football and played sport. Got to point out that work was setting us up with work from home a few days before the national lockdown was announced and professional football beat the government into shutting itself down. So 2/4 would have been out of my control.
That's not fair, last Saturday after the Villa game I carried out a covid secure(ish) taxi drop off service, wound the windows right down. Although come to think of it that was mainly a visibility issue due to the ice.
Good point OLOF, if it's true, and I can't argue that it's not. Lies, damn lies, and statistics, eh?
The nightingale hospitals were nothing but a £500m PR exercise. As they could never man them, and they knew this. There was already 40,000 nursing vacancies unfilled and the system was / is stretched a result, so they never had the means to staff them. When hospitals were requesting transfers to the Nightingales, they were required to send staff with the patients, which was completely impractical, so it didn’t happen in the main.
Testing the sick, not a problem, however the regular mass testing I don't really think you can have a functioning society. Will it ever be dropped or is it here to stay for the long run?
Nothing wrong with mass testing it helps the ones being tested. Rules are not being enforced just for the sake of it. Why would agovt try to restric the population just to hurt the economy.
I had covid, very few symptoms and no problems. A friend of mine got it, and he's now dead. Healthier than me, just luck.
Agreed that staffing the Nightingales to anything approaching capacity would have been immensely challenging. Had it been necessary though, it would have happened. Perhaps not with the fully trained and highly competent Doctors and Nurses we usually depend upon but staff would have been sourced and trained as best possible.
So sorry to hear about your friend chesh...it really does appear to be the most horrendous game of Russian roulette if you catch covid.
The entire premise was flawed, COVID patients would have needed high dependency / ICU level staffing, not just anybody they could coax out retirement or care assistants. They couldn’t staff them for their intended purpose, it’s not even a debate.
Perhaps the Nightingales were primarily intended for covid patients who's medical requirements were less than ICU...perhaps oxygen only.
We never got close to filling every normal bed though, what we did do was reach maximum capacity and beyond on ICU beds, so the focus and cash would have been better spent increasing capacity in that area, as opposed to building useless war hospitals in days, that felt like nothing more than a dick waving exercise, as it ignored reality and actual need. But didn’t we do it well though, days we did this in, DAYS, what an achievement. Oh hang on, where’s the bogs?
Just wonder what the ethnic background is of these people who are refusing the jab and what their reasons are.
