Carlo made the change at about 57 minutes I think, as Gomes was offering nothing to assist Digne as he’d been booked and looked leggy, and after that and then the subsequent introduction of DCL about 4 or 5 mins later, that was about it really.

Gomes was lucky, could have been off and surprised he didn’t get subbed off at HT as he was def the weak link along with docoure in middle.

Thought Keane and Pickford were motm for the tackle on mane and the saves from Hendo and Salah. Other than that was a workman performance to hold onto the 1-0 win

Really? Apart from the Salah chance, when did we look most likely to score? Same **** as when we played Burnley and Brighton - our front three got to the edge of the box and just ran into them, or shot at the corner flag in the case of Bobby, as far as I could see.

Tbf. till Motd I hadn't seen the flick out by Trent, but in all honesty he was on his way down even before he ran in to Trent, as carra said. Think Pubehead Keown was clutching at straws there on MoTD. But no arguments - it made no difference on the result.

Well I mentioned Salah, but the two Mane headers were really extended reaches. Think I posted about Trent's cross - you can't whine about missed chances if one of your players whips a beaut across the six-yard line and nobody is there to put it in; that is our front three this season.

With no senior CB's returning until August at the earliest and plenty of others on the injury list we are ****ed.

Leipzig is one thing, as and when we meet a better side we will struggle over two legs.

Leipzig is far from over: it's just half time. Two games at neutral venues - let's not forget that the two goals we got were total Leipzig **** - ups.

I am not quite sure why we insist on playing the exact same way, same formation etc for every single game.

Yes it worked last year, but that was last year, we had the players to do it and teams now have a plan to counteract it.

We need to change and adapt not just keep ramming our head into a brick wall.

I’d have hooked him at HT tbh, merely due to the booking, I didn’t think he was having a bad game. But 2nd half Klopp had obvs told them to overload on that side as it was weak point, and I screaming for him to be hooked, which he duly did.

Doucoure was wasteful in possession first half today, not like him at all, looked a bit nervous to me, but settled down 2nd half.

As for the pen, DCL is clean through, gets his shot away and sets off to chase down the rebound from Alisson and Arnold just slid in front of him, no attempt to play the ball, as it’s long gone, DCL tries to hurdle him, and he clearly raises his leg to make sure he goes down. Some weeks you’d get away with that, but I thought the ref had a clear view and was brave to stick to his original call, which was right imo.

Made no difference to the result, as we were comfortable by that point anyway imo. For all the possession difference we had the same number of efforts on target and imo it was us who looked the more dangerous when we got at your back 4.

Five years to build that team - five weeks for it to fall to pieces. As you know, my biggest gripe is not a sense of entitlement that we must win every game because we're Liverpool, but incredulity that we still keep playing the same 4-3-3 when we haven't the talent on the pitch to do it. Other teams have had horrendous injury crises, including Soton who deservedly beat us, but the majority, including City when they had theirs, adapted their formations to the players available. Unforgivably dickheaded to not adapt to your environment, as Darwin would sort of put it.

I agree mate. Klopp built that side to press the opposition high up the pitch, close down the opposition like a pack of locusts in the midfield when you’d lost possession, and get the ball to the front 3 as early as possible preferably when there was grass to run into or you could work a way in behind.

From the minute Van Dijk and Alisson arrived you transformed from a side who were very good but had a brittle underbelly on occasion, to be being virtually imperious for around 2 1/2 years.

What’s happened in the last 12 months is that tireless legs in midfield have got older, as have the front 3, sides have finally found ways to nullify your effectiveness and then latterly the CB injures which has ended up with you losing legs and bite in midfield as they’ve stepped back to CB.

You’re probably no longer good enough to have the bold view of ‘let the opposition worry about us’ as we’re just going to turn up and do our thing. It’s maybe time he looks to set you up differently if only for a spell, until you can get a few results and turn it around.

Klopp has got to trust the system or change the system. From my point of view, the system is the basic template for which he should use to attack the opponents. The players then are required to understand it and execute. What he has shown is his total lack of faith in players who are designated as CBs and by doing so moved his most important midfielders to defence in Hendo and Fabinho. Ironically, he is forced to play those same players he has ignored with the CMs now injured

What has happened is a clear domino effect where the most important part of the pitch has been left open and this has then translated to Thiago trying to tackle and press whilst also expected to playmake. The other mids then continue with the same tactical shifting the ball left to right like nothing has changed allowing the opposition to get into shape. How many times have we seen Jones who could score for fun turn into a wjnaldum and totally refuse to pass fowards by stopping and shifting the ball?

This has also impacted the front three who have thrived on the counterpress as their playmaker and are now forced to create their own chances through combnination plays against low blocks. I must say Firmino worries me but I cannot say whether he is a bust or also struggling with the structural issues.

It is not a coincidence since we moved Henderson from midfield our form has fallen of a cliff by thinking that we can get by with a less energetic midfield playing like last season and hoping to get results. Klopp has to make adjustments to the team shape to accomodate the exisiting player capabilities. If he persists with the 433 then no need playing Fabinho and Hendo in defence. Play them in midfield and accept that once in a while Kabak Philips and Davies will **** up but at least that ensures we can limit the chances being coughed up.

Finally I will not write any obituaries for this team. The amount of selective amnesia of the crisis we are dealing with is staggering. No team can win a league with what we are going through. Our results are a reflection of the injury crisis. We can only hope the coaching staff get a part time solution and do their best to achieve top 4 to allow the rest of the guys to recover and have another go next season.

they simply are not trusting each other.

Look at how we looked BRIEFLY and i do mean BREIFLY dangerous yesterday. It took anchelotti all of 10mins to counteract.

Taa actually went forward, really forward. pressed up and everton coughed up a few dangerous moments. after 10minis he's back on the half way line or running in the middle (ridiculous stuff)

Mane started moving about and being dangerous then bascially gave up. thats the most annoying of all.


When your back is against the wall and ours is you need people to run harder, work harder chase every ball. what of that did we actually see? not much IMO.


Does TAA trust the midfielders or the cbs to cover him going forward? Not so sure.

Robertsn isn't making ANY overallpping runs at all but isn't as notices i guess. HE is as fit as ever as far as i can see and running up and down but he's not over lapping.

Add in the 3 CMS just wanting to move the ball on? they don't carry it or try to engage and find a pass. Its a pass to the cbs or back or to the side just get it gone.

Thiago is indeed most disappointing. Not bescause of this running as some suggest (bullshit imo) no its cos he is not putting his foot on it and dictating play. he is just moving it on like the others.

I would be all for a total change of formation or something just to mix this up.

People might have guess who my personal scape goat. Firmino has been absolutley ****ing awful at the one thing he needs to do and thats score goals.

We are now without Henderson for what i assume is at least 6 weeks. If we were not wijnaludm would be joining him on the scrap heap.

If we had an option mane would be sat on the bench and all.

Problem is TAA and Robbo are the creative players but they just aren’t getting as far forward or committing because they don’t have Gomez vvd Hendo and Fabinho covering for them.

Hendo moves to that right hand side allowing TAA to push on. Not once have I see Thiago Gini or Jones in that same position letting TAA get up further which allows Salah to move more inside to create space. All that happens is TAA gets it at RB plays it to Salah at RW and then they’re crowded out.

until we get some players back to be able play that way we won’t be as efficient
