Top players don't join Celtic or Rangers cos in terms of money they just can't compete with English clubs, even the likes of Burnley or Brighton could probably offer more in terms of wages, thats a depressing thought. They need to shop in different markets, and turn players into top players rather than buying top players at their peak. Just off the top of my head, in recent years Celtic have sold the likes of Van Dijk, Tierney, Wanyama, Forster down to England all for decent money. Thats why I say, take money away from the likes of City or Chelsea and who wants to go there? Thats why they attract top players, money. Not because they are big clubs. How many trophies were these teams winning before the multi millionaires came along? Not many. Its all subjective anyway, theres no absolute answer that everyone will agree on. People will have different opinions and thoughts on it.
My mate has worked all the big derby/ rivalry games. He says the worst he has done for sheer hatred was Villa/Brum. The biggest let down were Millwall at Wolves, brave as **** in an empty pub but crawled up their own arses as soon as Wolves turned up, they told Wolves they were going to be at a certain place before ko but didn't turn up, instead hit the city centre and gave it to a bunch of scarvers. Couldn't get on the train back to London quick enough.
St Andrews used to be an absolutely vile place to go for any set of fans tbh. Set of utter ****s them.
Without a doubt. Been there many a time, late 70's us and them was up there with any. The walk back to the train was eventful to say the least. Me and a mate got cornered by about 12-15 of them once and we thought we were ****ed, then for whatever reason one of them said leave them, one kicked my mate on the top of the leg but that was it. Never understood how we got away with that.
As a Man Utd fan, I watch Spurs with a deep sense of sympathy for their fans and a huge sense of gratitude that we no longer have to watch this eye-bleeding and dull football. We certainly aren't perfect, but we are definitely more exciting to watch. Do Spurs fans really prefer this to what they had under Poch? Richard, Manchester. @Spurlock
