................but this one is different !
We can all name bad managers from the past. However the problems were usually on field. This bloke seems to be on a mission to rebuild our club completely.
Now there may be things wrong with our club. OK, yes, there are things wrong with our club. However most people at Rovers, and I include directors, have the club at heart and are doing their level best.
Buckle seems driven by ego and a conviction that only he has the vision to take Rovers forwards. I don't blame the board for appointing him.
I've been in the position myself. You interview someone who presents well, is articulate, and talks the talk. You note the fact that his success has been in one environment, but convince yourself that his skills are transferable to your workplace.
Then one day into the appointment you think 'S**t, what have I done?'
I've said elsewhere that Buckle has overspent his budget, and is known within the club as high-maintenance. He has made few friends.
Self-confidence is no bad thing, but his is frightening. He raised expectations and promised expansive attacking football. He is petty, in many ways a little man Napoleon.
He could do this club great damage. We are in L2 and close to the Conference. He is alienating the fans. A new manager usually has a honeymoon period of good results. We're not seeing this.
The board may fear criticism and ridicule, but I for one would give my full support if they got rid of him now before he does more damage.
