I remember going down with my son to Highbury to watch us in the FA Cup and us being 2-0 down after about 10 minutes. Game over.
Pires was injured half way through the first half right in front of the Newcastle fans. Some, including me, were suggesting to him that he, Pires, was milking the injury or even downright faking it. My son who was 17 yo at the time mentioned that he thought it was a quite serious injury. I pointed out that I could tell someone who was faking it from someone who was genuinely injured and Pires was clearly faking it. The subsequent facts proved me to be correct.
Pires did take his play acting a bit far though by deliberately missing the rest of the season and the World Cup at the end of the season just to try and prove me and the rest of the Newcastle fans wrong. Pathetic really.

Unfortunately we lost two finals in 12 months or seasons basically..
Both times we met 1 of the best sides ever to play in the prem.
Thought they were a great side to watch. Perfect balance - solid no nonsense defenders, perfect mix of creativity and aggression in midfield and Henry up front. Seaman wasnt bad in goals either.
We wont be expected to get anything from Monday’s game so hopefully we can relax and have a bit of a go. 3-1 to us with Almiron starring again.
I'm thinking emil crap will replace Manq Hayden will move into cm with willock to replace hendrick, lacelles will unfortunately play with Clark and gayle will replace Wilson..
Something like this with maybe back 4 Dummett out and Gayle starting?

The same set up as the last game I think just with the changes I suggested, but there's some suggestion we will go to 5 at the back and I'd not have an issue with that if we hit on the counter.. Its about results imo not performances vs the big clubs...

It's so frustrating it's taken us 2 years to get the right players on the pitch and the right balance and then boosh withing 3 games we lose 30 % of the 11. Covid has effected us badly too its actually a fair thing for bruce to be saying.
I hope the balance remains but I doubt it
Damn, I like Only Connect as well. Trouble is that I have this addiction which forces me to watch Newcastle United play whenever they are on television.
