11 to 1....sounds as if one of the jury stuck it out for a week.

I have only been on a jury once but my husband has been a juror on about half a dozen occasions including rape and murder cases.

On his first case 11 of the jurors thought he was guilty before the defence case was presented! At the end of the trial it was guilty 10-2 and remained so for 4 days until becoming 11-1 with my husband wanting a not guilty verdict. A downgrading of the offence had been possible from the start of the trial but was rejected by jury members 11-1. After another day with the atmosphere in the jury room becoming extremely tense and strained my husband said he would find him guilty of the lesser offence but would not move from this position. Within a couple of hours it was 12-0 which it had to be in those days. To this day he regrets his guilty verdict.

The fact that he "showed no emotion" as the verdicts were read out sets alarm bells ringing to me.

If I'd just been wrongly convicted, even of something minor,I'd kick up ****!!
Lets hope it never happens RG, as I believe most in such situations are in a surreal situation which potentially may lead to appeals & retrials. They'd be advised by their lawyers to not rock the boat. Unless their lawyers advised them to act like lunatics to support a plea of insanity (or whatever the UK term may be).

Does that mean he has to serve 27 years? Or will he be eligible to come out after serving half?
Whatever, as soon as he is released, the second he steps outside, put him in cuffs, drive him to the nearest airport and put him on the first plane to Warsaw.
Bollocks to his human right's. He forfeited them the second he decided he was going to rape and murder someone. Let the Poles look after him in his old age. £ucking scum bag.

Racist. We are a nation of immigrants. Immigrants run our NHS. You and your ancestors benefit from an evil Empire. If anything, foreign criminals (not that there's such a thing as a foreigner as we are all citizens of the world) only resort to crime because they are made to feel like outcasts by bigots like you. Once again, you are racist.

I've read some ****, but this tops it.... Foreign working staff are far far removed from foreign criminals who have used and use the UK as a cashpoint. From beggars who are not beggars but organised crime units, to car theft, to shoplifters ... this on top of benefits no doubt applied for and served beyond what they are capable fo earning in their own country. The decent, hard working European and foreign nationals will always be welcome, but when you enter the country as a criminal with the intent to commit crime, you deserve to be ostracised. DB spoke for me and I suspect most of the population of Hull and beyond, other than you it seems.. By the way, its 2021 not 1021...
