You do realise we spent money on Thiago and Jota in the summer and Klopp clewrly didn’t think we needed a CB in the summer with Gomez vvd Matip and Fabinho otherwise woukdnt had let Lovren go.

why not even a short term loan or a shortish contract for a dedicated CB and putting our established performers back in their proper roles?
I’m surprised we’ve not tried to do a loan deal for short term options. With euros this summer there must be someone who could do with 6 months playing that can come in and do a job. Even if it’s from a lower prem club potentially.
That’s not really the point. No doubt the guy is fabulously (!) talented and could play there. But his absence from the midfield means that area is weakened. As much as we love Milner he is not comparable. And this is made worse by the injury to Henderson. Thiago is great but hasn’t got the defensive abilities in midfield of Fabinho. I read this described as the butterfly effect. Not sure it applies exactly but it gives the idea. He’s been arguably best Cb in the league this year. Klopp obviously saw him capable of being 4th choice to step on as abs when needed. The fact we’ve lost 3 centre backs at times this season you can’t predict that. Most teams will have 3/4 senior centre backs that play throughout a season. That’s what we have.

i don’t disagree. My point was how often do you need to play your 4th cb due to injuries over course of a season? 5 games? 10 games? Klopp probably thought fine with Thiago in, and the options w engage in midfield we can afford to use fab for 5-10 games at CB if needed over course of season if 2 of Gomez vvd and Matip get injured at same time.
Fact 2 were out to season injuries so soon and Matip then got injured for month, you just can’t account for that.
Klopp obviously wanted the forward line up strengthening given we have no depth (origi doesn’t count) where as we had some depth at CB.
we can’t go out and buy 4 starting centre backs, 6 starting wingers like Man City can afford to so we had to prioritise. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but to Klopp he obviously thought the main 3 plus fab would be enough. Maybe he’ll change his mind this summer or maybe he’ll stick with fab as 4th choice

Having only 3 senior centre backs was a risk. It's an even bigger risk when 2 of them are injury prone. That's the issue.
Gomez may not have suffered a season ending injury but chances are he would have picked up niggles throughout the season anyway.

But Milners only 3 foot 4I would honestly get Klopp to train up Milner to play at the back with Matip
Thiago isn't a defensive midfielder.
I know Klopp doesn't want to play the kid CBs (they are sh!t tbf), but we have no one who can do Fabinhos job in the midfield. We looks so easy to break through without him. Which is his own fault for being so good at the back too.
I would honestly get Klopp to train up Milner to play at the back with Matip, seeing as we won't sign anyone.
A midfield of Fabinho, Thiago and Henderson is what we need
Yep, with hindsight, a major mistake. However, who would have predicted losing both VvD and Gomez for the entire season within the first few weeks of the start. It’s still a mistake imo, I think Klopp reckoned he could cope with one or two injuries fit a few weeks and never expected this worse case scenario. That mistake will be compounded if we fail to sign anyone this window.

Of course you can’t anticipate all those injuries. Although one could argue there always a need for contingencies some of these were extreme and at the end of the spectrum. But whilst this is a lot about looking back in hindsight, we do now have an opportunity to correct all this. The whole world, expert and non expert, can see that we need one CB at least. How can it be sensible that to stop a huge leak from a damaged roof from one side of the building, we remove the good side to patch up the damaged one and put on a plastic cover to replace the removed good roof? How does it make any sense? Why can’t we put the damn plastic cover over the damaged roof in the first place?
We now find out what the main priority of FSG are. Always the profits and the dividends?
And we must blame Fabinho. Because if he was **** at CB we would be forced to buy a CB!!
