LJ has been incredibly generous when asked about Ashton.

    I'm with Junior <laugh>

It comes down to money again, I bet you, to get the full whack pay off once sacked, there is a non disclosure clause.

Almost 5 years ago I criticised Mr Ashton for employing LJ, a man with little experience. Mr Ashton must feel terribly betrayed by those who back then backed him to the hilt and are now screaming profanities at him.

Who needs friends like you lot <laugh>

Even the useless has to do something right......LJ was a plus on his CV....with the history to back him.......A coach, being able to maintain Bristol City FC Championship status for longer than any of his predecessors .."Sa meilleure réalisation" as they say in France "pour ceux qui n'aiment pas la vérité" :emoticon-0127-lipss<laugh>

I see Tammy copped a hat-trick today, LJ's real vision for players!! :emoticon-0105-wink:

Worth more than anything that's worth winning in League 1 <cheers>

Not sure anyone “backed him to the hilt” when LJ was appointed, I recall a unanimous reaction on here that it was too soon for him and he hadn’t really done enough to warrant the role. Exactly as most have said about DH, who had even less experience than LJ, my issue with Ashton and Lansdown is that they talk about wanting to take the club to the next level, yet don’t back it up with their managerial appointments.

My opinion is that Mark Ashton has some amazing skills for buying and selling players, but he is NOT a decision-maker and needs careful management.
Unfortunately it looks as if he has a free rein - which is dangerous and could make him extremely unpopular now that everyone’s favourite whipping boy has left the building........

    What history books are those?

As for the last sentence, without promotion to the championship there is no recent history in the championship, it's just yet another BCFC pipe dream but hey if he does manage promotion with his new club, that will actually be in a history book, if not then he's already a dead man walking.

Which specific history book?, I want one and can't find any that class his keeping us in the championship as an achievement. Maybe you should update his Wiki page to include this, because it's not there either.

It's a contextual achievement. You are correct, in that it will never be listed as an achievement like a cup win or promotion from the lower leagues would. Another example of it being contextual would be Sean Dyce, constantly lauded by the media and pundits for over-achieving at Burnley by keeping them in the Premiership, yet according to many on here, just keeping a club in a division is not an achievement!

And I have always agreed with that within context, but I was responding to something that was not within context, nonsense about history books.

Sean Dyce guided Burnley to Premier League status and has still kept them there, that is his own, effort and achievment.

I think that he is a winner and admire him a lot for what he has done.
