I think that he is a winner and admire him a lot for what he has done.
I agree, I wasn't suggesting otherwise.

Sean Dyce guided Burnley to Premier League status and has still kept them there, that is his own, effort and achievment.

Great, we agree on just rewards, I also agree our Championship status was mantained by LJ for his 4.5 years before he was sacked.I agree, I wasn't suggesting otherwise.
It would be churlish of me not to acknowledge his success with Stoke, I do, my personal regard for him remains unchanged .I agree with this statement completely Wiz.
Just being a bit devilish, but couldn't you say same about Pulis with his achievement at Stoke? You won't hear many Bristol City fans saying that, but the comparison is there.............![]()
THEY MUST HAVE SOME EASY FIXTURES COMING UP ……… another behind the back appointment! get a new manager lined up sack present one . … .. [when fixtures ease]Crazy sport is football...just seen the announcement, that Lampard has been sacked by Chelsea.....doh
Sometimes I think our FC isn't so bad after all..
It's a contextual achievement. You are correct, in that it will never be listed as an achievement like a cup win or promotion from the lower leagues would. Another example of it being contextual would be Sean Dyce, constantly lauded by the media and pundits for over-achieving at Burnley by keeping them in the Premiership, yet according to many on here, just keeping a club in a division is not an achievement!

He was quite good - certainly knew his stuff. In one of our 5-a-side practice sessions though, he became quite physical with me when I ghosted past him and smacked the ball into the net - he certainly didn't like it. I did it twice in that game and he kept fouling me after that - quite badly actually - I still managed to get 2 more goals in that game though!!!!!I'll bet he was a better footballer as well![]()
Just listened to Mark Ashton on Twentyman and thought how well he came across.
He wanted clarity:
'I want reiterate and emphasise that not one signing comes in or out of Bristol City without the approval of the head coach'.
He doth protest too much me thinks.......
So what is the real meaning of what he is saying, LJ did sanction or agree to selling off all of the family silver and make all of the 63 signings?I would tend to agree but it's up to LJ to rebut his claim.

He's moved on, so why would he comment.
He is definitely distancing himself from accusations on social media that he and not LJ or Holden have the final say on signings, which if true makes the signing of Palmer an even more strange affair, as I say LJ and Holden always claimed that they have the final say, so to be honest I suppose if all 3 are speaking from the same hymn sheet then it has to be true.
I repeat if it's not true LJ has to grow a set and say so, Holden certainly hinted at it during his pre match interview at Norwich, where he claimed he knew nothing about a possible incoming loan that Ashton claimed was close.
My gut feeling is they obviously discuss transfers but Ashton has the final say, that would explain the signing of Palmer.
This IMHO was a damage limitation exercise by Ashton because of the growing unrest amongst the fans with season ticket renewal on the horizon.
Very well put. You will never convince me that MA didn't drive the Palmer signing home in his quest to curry favour for future young loan signings from Chelsea. Not a bad philosophy, except Chelsea, mugged him off, as we've had nobody from Chelsea since we bought him. I think the phrase "saw him coming a mile away" fits the bill here
I think LJ has more class than to be drawn into this saga tbh.

What about Kalas and Tammy Abraham? Although I have doubts about DaSilva there folk on here who think he's more than decent. Unfair to say Chelsea mugged him.
Some work out, some don't.
