I’ve just heard on tv that a hospital in Texas was locked by the building owner.
It said on a notice on the door that the hospital company had not paid its rent ! !

l believe that Britain is slowly but surely selling off different bits & services that used to be under the umbrella of the NHS. They claim they are not ‘selling’ the NHS but this is an ongoing sell off - often quoting the cumbersome bureautic NHS and we need a slimmed down partly (at leased to start) private entity as found in the USA.

Now the ‘superb, envy of the world’ is seen through new eyes - a hospital closed down ffs coz it didn’t pay its rent - leaving doctors & nurses etc wondering what heck !!! Not to mention patients.

Give me any time our good old NHS with its good caring work for the British folk without having to think of a penny saved here and there. Or who can we fleece to make a profit out of their misfortune.
I also don’t give a sh;t if a few thousand folk who are not citizens get help - claiming expenses from another health systemwould likely be time consuming and costly.
KTF & the NHS
Is there an NHS sell off though? Its no secret that the NHS outsources some services and uses private providers. But GPs surgeries are technically private providers and dentists that serve both private and NHS patients are technically private providers. No one complains about them.
This means that there is a kernel of truth for anyone with anti-Tory/anti-government bias to latch on to and over-inflate. I think all of these stories have to be carefully considered. For every story saying there is an NHS sell off, there is one saying that there isn't.

Against our better judgement we agreed to send our daughter back to her special school last week, she was there Friday, yesterday and until 10am this morning.

The other 'bubble' in her age bracket collapsed after a positive test yesterday and my daughters bubble collapsed this morning at 10am due to a positive test for the teacher or ta.

Its an impossible situation for the school and they have been brilliant at rolling out daily Covid tests for everyone over 18, but I don't know how they can continue on

Difficult situation. I hope it all gets sorted out for you soon.

It's the second time her bubble has collapsed since the beginning of December.

We kept her off originally, but the school were anxious that she came in as she needs routine.

Its the school I feel sorry for as I dont know what else they can do
I think schools are working very hard to make sure things keep going but they can't ever be completely certain that they can prevent the bubbles going down like you say.

Last words will not reply any more. IF Ian Porterfield was injured and had to miss the 1973 FA Cup final, Sunderland MIGHT not have beaten Leeds to win the trophy.
Wtf are you banging on about <laugh>

I only posted a link about what JC has said about vaccine nationalism relating to Coronavirus and you come out with all this weird stuff.

I can't believe we've come to this.

These poor NHS staff are on the verge of collapse, its heartbreaking.

All of these measures to get people to eat out, watch sport, mix at Christmas, etc have been a disaster.

It's killing people ffs, tell them to keep away from each other!
IF only we were an Island nation, with the absolute power to control people entering the country who could possibly be carrying the virus. And, IF only we'd had at least 3 months watching outbreaks in other countries getting progressively closer to us to gauge the severity of it doing so in order to take preventative measures such as not allowing any entrants into the UK full stop. We MIGHT not have the highest death rate in the world.

I don't always agree with your more radical posts ...

... but that all seems sadly quite practical tbh.

It could've been so much better than this.

(Half an hour to kick off so that's me done.)

There’s a big furore going on over here with the attitude of some elite tennis players and their entourage who have to do a 14 day quarantine prior to the Australian Open. As Smug knows too well, the mega rich don’t think that the rules should apply to them.
You know you're wide of the mark when Kyrgios calls him a tool :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Here's an article from the age about the demands...

I'm really enjoying the Adelaide based players being called privileged by the Melbourne based players.

That's got to be the worst buzz word to come out in recent years .

We didn't have 3 months to sit back and watch though - not if you are comparing us to the Italy, the first major outbreak in Europe;

First Cases
UK 31st Jan
Italy 31st Jan

First Indigenous Cases
UK 28th Feb
Italy 21st Feb

First Deaths
UK 5th March
Italy 23rd Feb

Lockdown
UK 23rd March (National)
Italy 25th Feb (Local)
Italy 8th March (National)

At the time the UK was said to be 2 weeks behind Italy.

The key figure there, for me, is the of 23rd March for the UK lockdown.

Only a week or so before the government were allowing holiday flights into Spain which was already in lockdown.

It was the airlines that turned flights around.

It was the lack of seriousness, at the start, that shocked me.

Also, from the Guardian where your figures are from.

"Boris Johnson said he was shaking hands with coronavirus patients just weeks before he tested positive for Covid-19. The prime minister confirmed he had entered self-isolation on Friday 27th March. Early this month, he insisted that people would be 'pleased to know' that the virus would not stop him greeting hospital patients with a handshake."

Italy suspended flight to and from China in January last year, I don't know if we ever did ...

... I seem to recall the Chinese stopping flights to and from the UK in fact.

They get elected on keeping Europe out then let Europe in. Farcical. New Zealand have it right but they have a trustworthy leader with a functioning brain and normal life experience.
