Oh ok now l understand when you go into your reckoning. The 400k I think is how much to pay his contract up as he has nearly 18 months left on his contract which would be 78 weeks pay at 5k which is 390k

I have always had a degree of sympathy for Grigg. I always thought he must have felt rubbish when watching STID and knowing the manager didnt think you were worth the money. I have often wondered how much trust Ross put in him from day one bearing in mind he wasnt fully behind the signing. He has looked a player lacking belief since day one I reckon and I do wonder if has never really been fancied. Lets face it it is hard to see Parky playing to his strengths. There is a finisher in there somehwere I just reckon we have never played for him as a side. Not saying he couldnt have put a bit more in, maybe be could, just feel it was a set of circumstances that have gone against him.
That said I did think it would be best for him to move on the Jan if someone would have him. It isnt good for him or us the way it is going. Perhaps the injury might scupper that now. Maybe, just maybe, he will be a half decent sub in the rest of the season if Johnson can lift his confidence a bit. Times like this the old combination leagues played a part by letting lads get a bit of form back.
Give him 3 weeks marra5 goals in 45 appearances, for an out and out striker who contributes very little else, he is just not good enough, the fact that Wyke is first choice says it all tbh.
I'm not a Grigg fan, I always get into the ground around an hour before ko to watch the warm up (they have changed now but used to warm up just in front of my seat in the East Stand) I think he is disinterested and lazy and it shows in the warm up, but we don't play to his strengths. If you watch his goals on You Tube, apart from the penalties, every one is from in and around the six yard box. If he starts a game we should be getting balls into that area and let him attack them. It's tough watching him play every single game like he's in the middle of a bad dream but Johnson might be the first Sunderland manager he's had who is actually interested in playing him and getting the best out of him.
I can't remember the phrase Johnson uses (POMO?) but it seems like something that would finally give a player like Grigg something to feed off and if he can put a couple away who knows what would happen. Strikers are funny creatures.

Just needs a solid pre-season iirc.Give him 3 weeks marra
To be honest, I don't take much notice of the Premier League when we aren't in it, but in relative terms a club with the income potential of Arsenal can absorb a greater loss than we can in the third division so I would say Grigg is a worse buy.In relative terms who has been the worse buy Grigg for £3m by Donald (Ross did not want him) or Pepe for £75m by Arsenal?
