Parker's capable of playing more than one role, though.
He can do a good box-to-box job, from what I've seen of him.

I must admit that I didn't quite appreciate how good he is at protecting a back four.

Scored some belters for Charlton, but I reckon his distribution and tackling make him invaluable in a deeper role...class player whichever way you look at it<ok>

I'm sure with his negotiating skills he could end up charging you to manage Spurs lol.

    Wouldn't surprise me, King!

    One thing about Parker, though.
Has anyone worked out why he runs like he's from the 60s?

Didn't Essien and up having to play right back for awhile because they were so strong in midfield?

One reason I was not convinced by him before was that I thought he was only a 'box-to-box' player and I didn't think we needed one of those. But actually he and Sandro are an almost perfect combination - if we play both of them we'll boss any midfield, concede few goals and the front four will have a field day.

I was one of the doubters. I am suitably chastised. He is a revelation and just like Carrick did when he was here, he seems to sew the team together somehow.

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping to see, too.
If Modric can adapt to playing in off the right, perhaps, then we'll scare the crap out of most teams.
Being able to stick players like Lennon, Defoe and Kranjcar on from the bench should help too, especially if they're kept sharp by Europa League games.

The second half of the arsenal game showed how much we needed parker as a partner for sandro and the first two games showed how much we needed a backup for Sandro. TBH I think he is probably first choice now.

Overall this has to be the best spurs squad I have seen for a very long time and with the amount of options we now have across midfield and attack we have the chance to have a very good season. It all up to Harry to get his tactics right now.

PNP i think Parker is almost a throw back to a different era,his hair his attitude and even the way he wears his kit.Personally i never had any doubts he would be good at Spurs. You only had to look at West Ham stats of games won when he started."arry sums him up well "a proper family man and decent bloke"

Scott certainly earns his stripes, always giving 110%. He is obviously very influential in the Spurs side.

As a Man United fan I'd have liked to have seen him here 6 years ago so Fergie could have got the best out of him.

He'll go missing against Cheik Tiote of Newcastle next weekend because he can't cope with players who are better than him on a combative level but in most of your matches he'll do the team proud. I don't think Tiote on his own can stop Spurs because Modric can cause all kinds of problems for the opposition but Parker will go missing, no doubt about it.

Whilst I rate Parker, no way did he deserve the PotY award ahead of Wilshere last season.

You're kidding, right? Even Nani deserved the award more than Wilshere!

To be fair to Parker though, it's much harder to play well consistently when everyone else around you is playing ****.
He seemed to be playing the opposition on his own a lot last season, whenever I saw them play.
