Constitutionally, the certification of the electoral college votes has to take place on 6th January. There is no precedent for any change, which throws up all kinds of issues.

The problem is that there is such a gap between the election and inauguration and so many legal steps in between, ours is just one day and then it's done.
Why is this not being referred to as an act of terrorism/attack on democracy? If the shoe was on the other foot etc...

All this because of a money making grift, Stop the Steal was dreamt up in 2016 by Roger Stone in case Trump lost then and has been all over social media asking for funds.
You know what? I'm glad this happened. It needed to happen. All of those cowardly ****s who encouraged this for their own political benefit needed to see first-hand what they had wrought. The differential treatment by police of peaceful left-wing protesters and right-wing insurrectionists needed to be on full display. The fact that these are not concerned 'patriots', but rather insane people who will plant IEDs and trash the halls of government in a fit of seditious pique, needed to be seen by the whole world. It's horrifying that it came to this. It was always going to come to this. Now the lines are drawn: are you on the side of democracy, or antidemocratic white mob rule?
