Doesn’t Haaland have a reasonable buy out clause? He’s off to Barca I reckon but he’s probably the most likely of those 3....and the likelihood of any is very low!
statistically speaking we have won less CL with origi than without him under klopp. marginally of course.
Gini Wijnaldum rejected new contract. https://www.teamtalk.com/news/barce...o-wijnaldum-rejects-latest-liverpool-contract
This from Sky Sports...more authentic https://www.skysports.com/football/...d-liverpool-reach-stalemate-over-new-contract
I expect Gini to leave at the end of the season. The owners (and DoF) have their ideas of what should be offered to him and Gini and his agent have another. Fact is unless we give him what he's asking for he's going to get a better offer from Barcelona. At 30 and for the type of midfielder he is, a hardworking closer down (a role that relies heavily on fitness) he's probably got 2-3 years in him. It becomes a question for the owners on whether its value to offer him a long contract (imo anything over 3yr probably wouldn't be and his resale value by 33 will be low). Also looks like they're interested in Alaba. And whilst his contract would cost more than Gini, he is a better player and younger, so offers better value for money. So if they can land him, it might be the end to contract talks with Gini.
Agree with this. Really don't want to lose him but think he's already gone. Least we know it won't effect Klopp's thinking; he used Can exactly the same despite him agreeing terms elsewhere.
I think Gini just keeping an eye on situation at barca. Tbh only reason was being linked is koeman but new president coming in March, prob bring his own man in (xavi by all accounts) so would they still be interested then? sounds like we’re happy to just sit and wait given Gini isn’t kicking up a fuss and fo hasn’t dropped
Don't just think Barca. A bunch of other teams would be willing to give him the money. Juve, Inter, Bayern, probably a number of others.
Gini Wijnaldum wants wages that is comparable with most of the senior players. In my opinion he's not asking for too much. He is on £70000 a week while some senior players are earning £150000 a week or more. Daniel Sturridge was on £140000 a week when he left us. Gini Wijnaldum rarely get injured.
the biggest sticking point is length of contract rather than wage though having said that the longer covid restrictions applies the more it will impact on clubs finances .
That's it Fact is when we handed out those wages to the other players they were much younger and the contract length made sense. Gini realistically will have 3years as a starter and a couple more as squad member at best. Are they still willing to pay those kinds of wages to him at 35 when he's not playing as much and selling him becomes harder as other clubs don't want match his wages.
