It's a 2222 song now because people like you want to rewrite history or delete the bits you don't like? Im with Goldie on this, in that I didn't even think of the lyrics until the yoghurt knitters mentioned it. These are the people that cause more problems and hatred.
Wow just wow!!! Radio one doing what a lot of other media have been doing for donkeys years is wokies causing hatred, problems and deleting history, have you actually heard yourself? Do you not see how silly that sounds? Aw Ellers wants the word ***got in a song or it’s ruined... ****ing hell, I dread to think the state you’d be in if you actually had to deal with oppression, by your responses here you’d be a jibbering mess ... there’s an obvious joke here I will refrain from.
Have you heard the story of Adam Goodes Will? Saw him Interviewed on Hard Talk tonight. An original Australia, and top Australian Rules Football player forced out of the game by continual racist booing aimed at him. There's a couple of documentaries about him that I'd like to see.
What a silly little 2222 you sound. both response to me and Goldie come across as if you are on some high level and we don't understand? I think it is you that is missing the point.... saying that you think pulling down 200 year old statues is somehow radical.
ohhh rugby not sure about that haha. No I’ll look him up. I’d suggest others do the same as without changes in society and what’s deemed acceptable things like this will only continue.
Ellers... where have I mentioned statues in this exchange? This has nothing to do with statues, strange that you mention them tbh.
Just listen to it online if it really means that much to you rather than cry about a radio station you don’t listen to choosing what it wants to air. A simple but effective solution.
Only problem is I can't enjoy it that much and wind my Chelsea mates up because they just say "how are QPR doing"?
I'd never heard of him either until tonight mate. He quit the game back in 2015 because of the continuing abuse.
What's happened to dire straits money for nothing It's used at least twice in that as well Like others I never even thought of gays when listening to either song
A hate crime has to involve a criminal offence, hate and typically violence. There was no hate in Fairy Tale of New York. No crime is committed by playing it, so we're not talking hate there. Then there are words that are no longer socially acceptable. The n word is one. ***got and other of the gay abuse words are others, if used now. But in artistic work - like a song - in the past? I accept it's a fine line. Personally, I wouldn't change it but others may take another view. It's not, and should not be, a crime. Nor should using bum bandits etc as gay terms be a crime, unless used with hate behind it. Of course, it is up to publishers, internet platforms, football clubs etc to ban someone who uses those terms, even if not used with hate. And then there are out of date philosophies like "a woman's place is in the home", "men are men and women are women" etc. Dinosaur views you may say, but it gets dangerous when steps are taken on a contractual basis to bar people from expressing those views. Like no platforming. Or sacking people because of non-pc views. That is what Rowen Atkinson was getting at. He was not referring to hate crimes.
I would also add that if you listen to many top rap artists they freely use the 'N' word and use Gay/*** and other derogatory terms about women including violence, but that okay? This months Orange.
Meanwhile in Chine 52 Pro-democracy people were tossed out of their beds in the middle of the night and arrested for crimes against the state. That will be the last we see of them. Elsewhere in China the WHO investigators were denied entry into the country after China said they could come in... apparently the clean up job isn't finished yet The new building where the wet markets once stood needs a coat of paint.
