Jordan Rhodes is one of those strikers that always seems to score against us...so maybe we will sign him, and provide him with no service to score. (We seem to be good at that).
Replace MW with Sherwood. Why? If we get rid of MW, then I would rather see an out of work telly tubby take over as they would do a better job than sherwood. And Sherwood on a contract of a £1 million......really...how the fcuk can he justify asking for such a salary? He has not proved he is £1 per year let alone a million!!! Why dont we keep MW until end of season to see if things do get better. After all, QPR always have a bad run at some time in a season (maybe the Colin years in the championship were an exception),

Not that I want Dim Tim, but £1M is not a lot - 20K a week! 4/7 of what Rhodes is on.

On-loan goalkeeper Dillon Barnes has been recalled by parent club QPR.

Which one of the three keepers is on the way out?

Paying some ‘has-been’ who can’t get into a relegation threatened side vs. coaching and developing our own players. No brainier surely. Rhodes... no thanks.

Bringing in a EPL loaner who can make an impact and allow our own players to adapt and improve. No brainer surely.

Finding a creative/leader for the midfield ... difficult, but we’ve had long enough to scout someone, so bring the decision forward from summer to Jan. do we have a scouting network? Is it working? MW saying there will be some activity, so hopefully the answers should be... Yes. Yes. Yes.
Then let Dickie focus on leading the defence and ‘new’ leader to drive the middle/forward line. Shake it up a little!

He's only played 8 times for Hibs, 4 in a Cup tournament so hopefully he's been recalled to get loaned somewhere he plays more. If not perhaps we are planning to sell Dieng, which could be a huge mistake.

Beth - I posted about this on the matchday thread after Reading.

Edit - here you go: https://fullcontactlaw.co.uk/2016/11/compensation-players-24-mystery/

It's a little out of date but I assume most of the detail is still correct. Some useful examples although none that are great comparators for BOS. Ings went to Liverpool for £6.5m at the end of his contract with £1.5m in add ons and a 20% sell on clause, so Burnley probably got £10m from him even though he went on a 'free'.

The aptly named Bosman ruling would apply if he went to an English club, and can deliver relatively hefty sums. In the arbitration process [if it got there] we would be required to provide evidence justifying our value of the player. This is where I think the offer we accepted from Club Brugge will have an impact - we can hardly argue [with any chance of success] for a valuation higher than the one we accepted in the summer, but could realistically hope to achieve something in that ballpark.

Edit - The Bosman ruling did come from the ECJ, so there may be a Brexit implication on its applicability in the UK. I'd assume not given we transposed most EU law into our own in the WA, but I'll google later to check.

    Thank you Raving.

So it is essential he goes to a British club?

Well BOS didn’t fancy Belgium, so I don’t imagine Turkey would be a viable alternative.

*English. I think the PFCC don't have jurisdiction in Scotland, so it's got to be an English club, otherwise the compensation calculation in Fifa rules comes into play, which is much much lower.

Wasnt he at Middlesbrough in the premier league? Anyway that could suit us as we have no chance in hell of getting there before he retires.......or claims his pension.

I have a bad feeling that this transfer window will leave us in a much worse position than we already are!

I'd be happy if we signed Rhodes. He's better than anything we've got at the moment and knows where the back of the net is.

Back in his day Rhodes name came up on the score sheet every week... A bit like Billy Sharp. these guys have a knack of scoring. Even an old Rhodes would be better than a Dykes. It really isn't working out for him.

I think our biggest requirement is a goalscoring midfielder that can make things happen, someone in the Martin Rowlands mould. Rhodes was a goalscoring machine 10 years ago but he's way past his sell by date and those wages are a joke in our current context. I'd far sooner go after a loanee who has something to prove but without a service it'll be a waste of time. Dykes needs a partner to be more effective, Steve Clarke makes it work for a modest Scotland side, why can't MW?..

He doesn't seem to have settled at Wednesday for whatever reason. He's still only thirty and the only person currently playing in English football who's scored more goals than him is ... Sergio Aguero.

    Agree, I don't need convincing.
A few years back it was me that kept say 'lets get him in'... in the end we got Austin... would have loved both.
