I thought most of our food from overseas comes by boat.. containers and ate then trucked out from there, or by air!

The PM referred to the 80% of driverless freight as the 'vast majority' which is more hyperbole. (A vast majority iis actually 90+)

That 80% of containerised goods is generally non perishable items such as car parts, Chinese electrical goods, etc. The remaining 20%, carried in lorries, is more likely to be perishable goods such as Italian tomatoes, Spanish citrus fruits, French vegetables, etc.

A crisis should never be a tit for tat red v blue affair, I'm not affiliated to any party so don't have this automatic defence response. I'd be appalled at any government claiming these lorry parks had been planned over many months only to see the Salvation Army arrive with basic necessities.

I had a little transport company, called RediToGo, and know how brutal Dover-Calais is at the best of times. Me and Mrs Smug used it as free travel from Nice to Nottingham and back. People may believe modern trucks have water beds, Sky TV and hot tubs but many, like ours, have nothing but a radio.

To sit in a transit van for 3 days and nights would be an absolute nightmare.
did Macron ever ban you before from crossing

There will be food shortages.

Trucks from Europe, carrying goods, won't risk going to the UK and getting stuck ...

... they'll just sell their produce cheaper on the continent.

The UK will really suffer.
I would imagine our lads will now be bright enough to do the same so we will be fine. The Froggies can stick there garlic up their hoops.

we should demand a refund of our monthly 1 billion bill, for him stopping foreign drivers going back home for xmas that Macron has some neck on him

We had to run a blockade at Calais once but that was port employees acting up ...

... I just put my foot down and drive straight at the barricade.

Mrs Smug was well impressed!!!!
i was thinking more when the frog fishermen did a blockade or when the French farmers did one, time to tell the twat to f off

It won't happen though, this was all totally predictable ...

... this will be a decade of 'yes buts' tbh.
how was it predictable while we are still in negotiations for him to ban his own trucks going back to France for a new corvid strain that was from South Africa, and only spotted by the British as we have the technology to detect it, same as Novichoik, Ebola Aids and Monkey pox
