But it makes not playing him rank stupidity, priority one is getting out this league, anything else can wait.

Don't disagree.....

But he hasn't exactly justified his inclusion the minutes he has played recently, and imagine the kicking the cub will get he leaves for **** all in 2 years?

He can do that based on his current contract situation. Why pay him more for the privilege?

In fact, wouldn't we get compo if he left at the end of his current deal? Might actually be better off not offering a deal if he's wanting the option to split on a free....

Either way, I doubt if it's McCanns decision anyway.

I imagine we are one of the top payers in the league we are in? What if Leeds are going to give him 25 grand a week say?
Are you/we that sure he’s that good and can we afford to do that?
Players and their agents will have a good idea of what they might get elsewhere, they won’t have to guess or gamble. I doubt he’s asking for 25k, though I don’t think you were suggesting that.
The calculation is what extra I pay him now, set against what I can get as a transfer fee when he improves in the future. There’s evidence that Ehab has no understanding of that - he just wants to duff you up on the deal before you right now, he doesn’t seem to think about the future worth at all.

It's apparently the security on the deal in favour of the club. not the money on offer in the interim that's the issue.

While I agree in principle with what he’s saying this really isn’t the way to go about it

'We want to see commitment from Keane' - Grant McCann discusses Lewis-Potter's Hull City future
The future of City's star youngster looks uncertain after boss Grant McCann revealed he's not starting Lewis-Potter due to contract negotiation impasse

The future of Keane Lewis-Potter dominated the aftermath of Hull City’s dramatic 3-2 defeat at Blackpool on Tuesday night.

City’s talented youngster was again left on the bench by boss Grant McCann, before coming on shortly after the hour mark at Bloomfield Road.

Lewis-Potter has been in discussions with the Tigers over a fresh deal at the KCOM Stadium with a belief terms were close, but McCann revealed on Tuesday night that the 19-year-old has yet to commit his future, and is therefore being left out as a consequence.

McCann says the club are close to agreeing the financial elements of his contract extension but there is yet to be any agreement over the length of his deal.

"I thought we were very close in terms of a contract with Keane, and you can see the football club is making a commitment about tying the younger players down to longer-term contracts.

"I think we're there financially, but it is the years. We wanted to add another year onto his deal, Keane and his agent don't want to do that.

"At the minute, we're at a stumbling block really.

"It's not helping me, it's not helping Keane and every game that goes past he's thinking about this and worrying about that.

"We want people to commit, especially a boy who has been at the football club since he was eight years old.

"We want commitment from the players because we've given the chance to come into the first team and develop.

"We want to see a commitment from Keane."

We'll get compo on his current deal if he leaves in 2 years so why pay himore in the meantime to do that?

We want to pay him more for the next 2 years and incentive the lad further, but want the opportunity to realise a bigger fee in return when he does leave.

Decent away performance which deserved a draw. Undone by two sucker punches. Also caught on the break for the first. Thought they targeted young Greaves from the start which rattled him. Wish Wilkes would pass occasionally in the final third. Also thought we responded well to their second goal. Decent referee tonight too.
You could sense that third goal coming when the board went up for 4 mins extra and we should have been better then that. We should have been happy with the point and closed the game down.
The knives and critics will be out in force tonight.
No it didnt .

It sounds as if a draw was deserved, so I guess away from home against a side that is on a good run would have been more than acceptable. So performance-wise probably okay overall, but the old habit of last season and conceding late and letting in sloppy goals is again happening.

Amazing after 2 losses we are still top, let's hope Friday night we are back to winning ways, then the last 2 results will be quickly forgotten.

I don't understand this logic of leaving KLP out of the starting lineup, just because he will not agree with what they are offering. Even though Terry denies it, this sounds like an Ehab directive.

Frankly, it crazy to do this, it can only affect player moral, they all speak together and IMO will only damage relationships with the manager.

We'll only get a couple of hundred grand in compo, when he's potentially worth millions, it would be crazy not to tie him up with a better deal now and pissing him off by not allowing him to start any games, is a really stupid way of doing it (though it's classic Ehab).

Agree. The clubs approach is bonkers. This is absolutely not the way to encourage commitment. It is the opposite.

Yeah, though I was only 10 when he arrived at City. I knew he was a big deal, I remember the football being crap too.

I measure it relatively, though. Because we played crap in the Premier League, but we had better players then so it was a different kind of crap and even then, we were small fish in a very big pond. We're playing poorly relative to the quality we have now, which is worrying because a lot of our players would walk into most of these other teams and we're probably the biggest team in the league. That doesn't give us a divine right to walk the league, but it does mean at the very least that we should be beating the likes of Blackpool, Swindon and Shrewsbury.

Can you remind me what major trophies you have won? Is Dean Windass still your all-time best player?

Many moons ago we played at Rochdale, and a City gobshite was giving it the "****ing hell City, it's only bloody Rochdale", throughout the 90 minutes. Fancy 'the likes of' Rochdale having the temerity to be on the same pitch as us, why don't they just roll over and let us have our preordained win? The defeat was a touch easier to take just to see the look on his face at the final whistle.

We have, like most club's I'm sure, amongst our fan base, those brought up on playing fantasy football manager. Others are in the real world. I class myself as one of those. And I thought Iain Hesford was your all time best player ?
