It'll be along the lines of "Go out, but don't go out....see your family, but we'd rather you didn't, so don't blame us, but blame us....only travel to the end of your garden, but wear a mask on transport when you go to the other end of the country.....
Kind of sums up how impossible to manage the whole thing is imo. Although I accept that the government have been woeful a lot of the time.
The biggest problem is so many people don't give a f*ck anymore, add to that there are a number of pubs selling beer at 99p a pint today and you just know what sort of pictures you'll see on social media tonight. This should give the virus a welcome boost just in time for Christmas...
Working up in Manchester at the moment Given its supposed to have Tier 3 restrictions compliance is pathetic and the Mancs should spend less time moaning about what happens in London and consider what they ought to be doing to keep safe The area around my office is as busy as it would be if COVID wasn't rife At least Burnham has stopped crying about how life is so unfair
Was exactly the same over in Teeside until I left last week. There's a much greater level of compliance up here than I've noticed anywhere I've been in the north of England over the last few months.
I’m guessing that has something to do with trust in the people issuing the rules, and consequent willingness to follow them. There is also apparently a large crossover between ‘hard’ Brexit supporters who are happy with no deal and anti lockdown sceptics, from Parliament all the way down.
Another classic presser from Johnners and Whitto. Essentially, because some people might have made plans we won’t change the rules, but we really don’t want you to meet anyone, so it’s your fault if you do and the virus spreads again. ‘we are relying on people’s strong sense of personal responsibility’ ‘it’s a maximum not a target’ ‘just because you can doesn’t mean you should’ Jolly D. Whitty - ‘minimise the risk to elderly relatives without leaving them excluded’. So exclude them or don’t minimise the risk? What the **** does this mean in practical terms? Just grow a pair and change the rules, then you really can blame the people who won’t follow them whatever, otherwise we are back in car crash territory.
We’re going to need something for the right wing press to pretend to cry about in Jan to keep Brexit off the front pages.
Yes there really is, look it up. See what Farage’s Brexit Party and UKIP say about the lockdown, and within the Tory party the anti lockdown faction is nearly identical to the ERG. Also a fair bit of research on it. The reference is to hard line no deal Brexiters.
It can be hard to admit you’re aligned to such people sometimes. So I hear anyway. Not accusing anyone.
Dr Hilary demanding we stay away from family this Christmas. He also goes on about masks a lot. But he doesn’t mean he has to follow the rules. Just us! Because he’s a hypocrite. please log in to view this image 1
Quick hide! Labour has dragged out Jonathan Ashworth’less’ again to play politics on Christmas guidelines. I thought after his last cock up they would have hidden him along with Milibland?
