Bit of a weird one. We were incredibly dominant, very comfortable and fully deserved the three goal win. And yet I struggle to give any 9s or 10s out of 10. Just an all-round solid performance, with 7s and 8s throughout - headed, once again by Vestergaard. Except for McCarthy of course - you can't give a rating to someone who wasn't required to do anything.

Wednesday is the big one for me. We've yet to take down any of the big six this season. This is a golden chance.
I'll take 7's for all of them as long as the team effort gets the result!

Great result. Can’t believe after 12 games we are 3 points behind the top spot. Europe a real possibility.

As a side issue, weren’t our fans a bit close together. I know some groups can sit together, but still looked strange compared to how spaced out fans are at other clubs.
I hope they were all 'spaced out' after the 3rd goal..

Another thing I noticed today - the advice that AR's shouldn't raise their flags until the move has ended is absolutely terrible when you're in the ground. There were a couple of times in the 1st half where I didn't bother to get excited as I could see it was offside but then the play goes on anyway. Thankfully we didn't score from one of these attacks.

I thought our fans looked spaced out. Not surprising given the football on offer. I'm a terrible television fan and have been known to chew through cushions when Saints are 4-0 up with a minute left, but that's gone. I could only see one winner last Monday once we'd scored and today was a stroll in the park. Even had they scored from that one good chance I'd have been confident. I don't think I've ever felt so relaxed watching Saints.

But back to the crowd. Did they only allow nice people in? My usual seat/standing position puts me next to Moron-On-The-Northam which is akin to being next to the loony on the bus. MOTN always screams "****ing sort it out" when a player passes backwards he also lets loose foul abuse against any former Saints player. He only does this to break the monotony of reminding us how much he '****ing hates Pompey'. Today, I heard applause for some good possession at the back; warm applause to welcome McGoldrick and when Sharp was substituted. Oh, and one rendition of the song that asked our fishy firiends whether they still found the situation amusing - which is at least funny. Well done Saints crowd, and great to see so many kids there becoming star struck. Poor little buggers. Could end up as lifetime Saints fans. I know how painful that is.

Just finished listening to 5 Live, CP v Spuds. Mentioned that Dortmund had sacked their manager and Ralph should go for them as they are his sort of club.
Saints are not his sort of club, they are his club, he is the club. Still on high, but not as high as I was before the BBC decided to transfer our manager. Is this what I pay the licence fee for!!

Maybe the Saints ticket office use filters when they 'randomly' select who will be offered a ticket to watch Saints. They probably have several parameters like 'willingness to accept decisions', 'acceptance that players move to other teams', and/or 'appreciation of sensible play', in order to rank the acceptability or otherwise of fans. Alternatively, mouthy complainers are not season ticket holders, but that ought to mean that you would not always be next to MOTN.
Having said this, I was not chosen to attend the first match, so maybe I don't score very highly on the parameters I've identified. :1980_boogie_down::1980_boogie_down:

Two points at the moment, Fran. Stays like this, we can go top again midweek...

If I heard Adam Blackmore correctly neither Vestergaard nor Bednarek have picked up a yellow card in the 12 league games so far this season. Not bad for centre backs

This is one of those imponderables: Vesty and Beddy are either both so good at their roles that they can dispossess opposition players without fouling anyone, and never get noticed by the referee, or they are so bad at their roles that opposition players slide past them without being touched. It is clearly not the second option, as Vesty in particular is worthy of MOTM, so he must be doing something right.

The other option is that Oriel Romeu is the 'Human Shield' for any opposition attacks, which probably explains why he already has four yellow cards, and will probably be suspended in the near future.
Is Romeu actually Franny Benali with a severe haircut? :1980_boogie_down::1980_boogie_down:
