I do not follow Formula 1, barring **** ups it is somewhat processional. This thread has been about Lewis Hamilton being the greatest ever/no he isn't its the car. Hopefully the F1 learned will correct me if this is bullshit or simply wrong. Here goes. A callow youth, on loan to another team, is called back to race in Hamiltons car. During the race he overtakes Bottas at the start and after a pit stop. Why didn't Bottas say giz a go in that one? However due to a monumental howler by the pit crew, who, I believe, practise and practise tyre changes and a puncture he finished 9th. So learned ones, why wasn't Bottas given Hamilton's car. And more intriguingly, how come said callow youth did to Bottas what Hamilton has been doing all year when surely shirley, driving for the same team, the cars must be identical?
Valentino Rossi Moto GP rider has had a go in various types of racing car and always does well. Maybe getting too old to make a career change from 2 to 4 wheels.
Mike Hailwood had great success on 2 wheels then drove F1. Not many have had the abilities to drive both motorcycles at the top level and F1 cars.
The cars are set up for the drivers. Russell is 5" taller than Hamilton and had to squeeze his feet into boots a size smaller to be able to use the pedals. No doubt Bottas felt he would be better off in his on car. Wouldn't have made any difference, as apparently the car isn't the main thing it is the driver.
When he tried rallying, Hamilton tried out half a dozen cars to see which one suited him best. It looks like their lass's car was the nearest to a good fit.
MotoGP icon Valentino Rossi left Michael Schumacher "stunned" by his lap times during his first Formula 1 test for Ferrari in 2004, according to a ... It was over a decade ago when MotoGP legend Rossi first took part in a bona fide F1 group test for Ferrari, lapping 0.7s off the pace of Michael Schumacher and putting him squarely in the frame for a switch of codes that would have shaken the world – had it happened.
I've had some laughs watching that. Loads of pit workers used to do it as a hobby, real rough and ready types racing in donkey jackets. A team from London rocked up with a few well sprayed cars, and some lads on some sort of probation scheme to get them out of car theft. The miners were less than impressed, most of the cars got rammed out of shape in the pits, two got onto the track for the parade lap, and only one of them ended up race fit for the start, and it didn't make a lap. They were packed up heading south for a rethink before the first race had finished. Being from Stevenage, Hamilton clearly wouldn't have stood a chance.
I saw something similar to that years ago, true story. A car lost its front nearside wheel and it bounced several times before hitting a buildings front window. Lots of those inside came rushing out to see what was happening, the driver could have picked a 'better' building than Tower Grange police station!
Brilliant documentary SENNA on Sky Documentaries tonight.... the full behind the scenes leading up to his death... that season, no electronics or traction control.... The day before, Ratzenberger had also lost his life and even on the formation lap there was a serious crash... amazingly, he didnt have one broken bone or bruising just the suspension shaft hitting his helmet that killed him.....
and after the 2 benetton wins he went 5 years without a title then in a ferrari he won but most of the time it was wheel to wheel racing twowrights here's a nice stat for you which is probably the best indicator as to whos got the best car race winners who have led every lap of the race hamilton comes out on top with 22 races vettel is third with 15 and schumacher has half that of hamilton with 11 most people in the know admit schumachers ferrari days were so much more wheel to wheel than hamiltons last 6 years and ive sussed out what it is the most that people hate about hamilton it isnt his personality or skin colour or attitude or hypocrisy its his whinging half blind fans that wont accept what is clearly obvious to the rest of the world. and i wont post on this thread ever again and in fact i dint post this.
im sure ive seen it. brought tears to my eyes despite at the time thinking he was arrogant and pig headed.
my missus asked earlier today - is qualifying on? i said yeah but lewis hamilton is back. and she said oh i wont bother then. and i dint either. this sums up why maybe lewis hamilton isnt as loved as he should be. through no real fault of his own he is ruining f1.
