Lewis Hamilton, seven times world champion and the best driver of his generation, and arguably of all time. Gonands to his tax status, residency, political views, best car, driving in circles, asinine blah blah blah guff.
Lets hope all the kids he wants to inspire have Dads rich enough to take them go karting when they're 8....
Makes you wonder what he's got to do to get a sporting knighthood. Sir Andy Murray won Wimbledon once!
Got the best car undoubtedly. Fangio won 5 Championships in 4 different cars. Fangio thought Stirling Moss was the best driver of them all, and and not just at F1. Graham Hill, my favourite driver had all round ability, and the only man to win the World Championship, Le Man's 24 Hour and the Indianapolis 500. Hamilton s the best driver at the moment with the best car but saying he is the best driver of all time is debatable.
Credit where credit is due. I think Hamilton just has a lot of drive and determination and has consistently demonstrated he is the best F1 driver of the current era. He’s also had to overcome a lot of adversity to get to where he is. I think that warrants praise rather than criticism. He also does a lot of charity work.
Doing a lot of charity work isn't necessarily the sign of a wonderful human being... What adversity was that?
I'd agree with best driver comments if he didn't have a car that automatically made him way faster then anyone else on the grid, or if he went to a lesser team and won the title as others have done in the past. He's obviously good, but how much is that down to the fact he drives for a team that's way way way Infront of the others
As Martin said in Saturdays of Thunder 'The driver is essentially ballast'. It's the car that wins. It's laughable that the driver claims any credit.
In the wet? He’s the best driver bar none. That’s not the car - that’s driver ability. There’s plenty of ex F1 drivers that back Hamilton as one of the best ever. Just saying.
So in the wet you believe all cars are equally as good and it's purely the driver that keeps it out the gravel?
Being born on a council estate? I, like many others, was. Like most of those others was not able to have a parent who could afford things like go-karting.
