Here’s something to cheer you all up. Yesterday marked the start of a sequence of 10 consecutive days when the sun sets at 16:02 (round here), which is the earliest. From the 18th onwards the sun starts setting later every day, marking the point at which the evenings start getting lighter. The sunrise continues getting later until January 3rd (8:14 am) after which the mornings also get lighter. The Winter Solstice and the shortest day of the year is on the 21st December, when there are just 7 hours and 51 minutes between sunrise and sunset.
Went to a new restaurant in town earlier The waiter said "For starters there's badger soup, followed by roast badger and finishing with badger mousse." "Is there anything else apart from badger?" I asked. "No", he replied. "It's a sett menu."
My boys think I am a little bit special, but not in a kind way . Badgers are for life, not just for Christmas.
I never realised, until recently, that Spec-savers do house calls, for those with health issues that limit their ability to go out. I contacted them Sunday, online, had a phone call Monday arranging an appointment for this morning. Mrs Badger has a new pair of glasses on order, and will now see what I am up to, with more clarity. It was a very good service and highly recommended.
Dame Barbara Windsor has died. https://news.sky.com/story/dame-barbara-windsor-star-of-eastenders-for-decades-dies-aged-83-12157621 RIP
RIP. Grew up with her on the TV most nights! Six years with Alzheimer’s. Having seen my Nan deteriorate rapidly through two to three years of it, at least her struggle is over and her family can hold onto the happy memories. Horrible disease and I wouldn’t wish it on any family.
