It's a strange old season, this one. We've had some great results and a few really good performances. But consistency is a problem. Maybe it is the injuries, and the fact that these new players are still getting to know each other.
I thought it was a good idea to switch training to the Mem for a bit because the players have never really looked relaxed at home, and it must be pretty clear to the opposition that if they score first, the crowd start having a go at our players, they start getting tense and hoof the ball around instead of playing it to feet.
I think Buckle's done a pretty good job. He's identified and signed some pretty good players for this level - more than most clubs sign pre season. It's been a hell of a change for everyone. And yet they've gelled pretty well on the whole. The away results at Wimbledon and Morecambe are probably the stand outs. We could and should have won at Bradford. And we had a couple of good wins against Watford and Shrews. Sure the defeats at home have hard to take, but I really don't think we're far away from being pretty much the finished article, much more consistent, and coming into form at the right end of the season. The name of the game has to be trying to stay in touch and then finish with a good run for the playoffs or automatic promotion. Let's face it, that's a hell of a lot better than the last time we went down.
