An 'interesting' evening................... First of all the Supporters Club AGM: * David Brain not re-elected as SC Director....that bloke from Sky (long name with a hyphen) got it * drop in membership for each of the last 2 years Then Higgs, Buckle, North, Gill and some other directors * lot of time given over to 'booing' issue. Obviously a BIG thing with Buckle. Lot of animosity at first; uncomfortable atmosphere. I tried to point out that there was a difference (perhaps) between jeering and abuse during a game and booing at the end of 1st half or at the end. He was having none of it. I can see this really kicking off. Perhaps we should just turn away from the pitch or walk out ! * I asked what the BOARD'S expectations and success criteria were for this season. Higgs said promotion ! * Buckle hopeful of making a signing Friday * When asked about SC Buckle repeated everything you've read. Says Exeter have not come back for him. Will sit down at Christmas and chat to him. Buckle did not respond to question about captaincy * Higgs very happy with how things are progressing re. ground. Keeping the Mem. development application going just as a fall back So....Buckle passionate and thinks well on his feet, but certainly aware of fans' feelings !
Thanks Pirate sounds like Buckle doesnt like booing then He only has himself to blame for that to be honest. I personally dont boo, but I have felt like it many a time this season so far just purely out of frustration! We have the quality there as proven several times away to the leading sides, and at home against some decent sides we have played well. The one game where IMO it turned was Crawley. There is no fecking way we should be getting a stuffing from ANYONE in this league! Cheltenham was a disgrace as well and IMO a few more results that like and we will be down to 4000 gates. Yes yes give him time blah blah blah, and im willing to do so, but he needs to sort it out himself and stop blaming us, the pitch etc. no excuses Buckle, just sort it out. Anymore games like that, and you will really be under the spotlight
Looks like the honeymoon period is well and truely over - from being the best supporters in the country we are now the latest scapegoat for the teams shortcomings .... now where's my crystal ball - gonna see how things pan out!!??!??!???!?!?!?!?!?!?
I'm worried about where this is all leading. Buckle was at pains to point out he didn't have to come here; he was headhunted. There was a lot of frustration last night. One elderly supporter eloquently put it that the fans have had a number of years of frustration and it is now bursting through. A few more poor performances/results and I can see Buckle really losing it and the fans turning. Where would we go from there? With David Brain losing his seat will the Share Scheme continue ? Higgs looked uncomfortable at times. At worst we could be looking into an abyss............at best we've been wrong and all will come good. The next two games are CRUCIAL.
I’m not sure that a number of years of frustration are bursting through. We have had 128 years of frustration lol. I think the fact that Buckle is being a complete prat towards us fans is what is causing the unrest with the fans. ‘We’ booed the team off and rightly so when they played like a bunch of school girls against Cheltenham and he got funny about it, and started to blame us for the defeats they suffer, which causes me and many others to feel like a villain when im paying good money every other week (sometimes TWICE a week!) to support his team. We were here first, and will be here when he is long gone so a bit of respect wouldn’t go amiss. The complete cock!
The thing is everybody expected a good clear out and better things to come - in reality this hasn't happened - the clear out did, but what came in hasn't really lived up to expectations. PB has only had one previous job at Torquay and he managed to do a good job there ... apparently! I havn't spoken to any Torquay fans in person but a few people on here have hinted that he wasn't the best loved manager and some peeps were quite happy to see the back of him. Quite clearly PB is still learning - it's whether he learns fast and how much he takes in as to whether he will succeed! Obviously he has never been in a situation like he is now - where people are booing his team, and pressure is beggining to mount on him and his players - how will he/they cope? Not only that he has to recognise that NO-ONE is bigger than the club and that includes him. Sometimes you have to eat humble pie, you have to say sorry and hold your hand up and say I got it wrong - whether PB is capable of doing this I don't know, but unless he learns how to do it he will lose the support of even the die hard fans and the rest will be down hill ending in the obvious outcome! I am hoping of course that everything will come good, but much is being made of the booing at the moment - we didn't boo in the first 5 or 6 games did we - we supported the team. It's only the last 2 home games really that the booing has crept in - why - cos of the crap football being served up, and that is really all down to the manager to sort out! So Mr Buckle the answer to the booing is simples! Play some sort of football at home, play people in thier right positions and lets get this club going forwards not BACKWARDS as is happening at the moment! Then the booing WILL stop - even if we lose at least we will be watching football as promised - and everybody will be behind you and the team!
