Of the five people leading the Oxford University team who developed the vaccine, one is American, one Australian, and one French. Are they going to have their countries’ flags on the ampoules too, Boris, you preposterous nationalist ****?
Thing is this literally appeals to no one at this point. A significant chunk of his nationalist Express / Mail / Telegraph reading ex fan base now hate him for lockdown and will refuse to take the vaccine anyway or will at least take it grudgingly, so it will probably hack them off to see a Union Flag painted on a vaccine. Apparently this was something to do with trying to promote British identity in Scotland, but will just piss the Scots off more. They just don’t understand people do they?
I can think of a couple of people I know who it appeals to. I’m so pleased Chilco mentioned the five people leading the development and their nationalities, as I’ve already had “Proud to be British” harped on about over this.
Covid UK news – live: Gove warns hospitals could be ‘overwhelmed’ without tiers as first vaccine jab ‘days away’. Is this another case of operation fear? Things always come back to bite you on the bum.
Pandering to the little Ingerlander jingoistic xenophobes. Well done done Chilcs the point needs to be made across all media platforms.
Actually, regarding your last line, I would suggest that they DO understand some of the people. I have said before that, IMO, the Tory party is faux patriotic. Their patriotism to the country and people as a whole is fake, but they know how to use it, through their pet media outlets, to con large swathes of the country into thinking that they are patriotic. Brexit is the single most obvious proof. As a party, they are prepared to ruin the economy of this country (even further on top of the damage being done by the pandemic) with no regard for the economic effects it will have on lives of so many, just so that they and a certain clique will become more insanely rich and powerful. Yet they have, again through their pet media outlets, convinced large numbers that what they are doing is for the benefit of the country and the people. Another drive to show their “patriotism” is the £16.5 billion being put into defence, whilst previously refusing to spend £12 million on feeding school children - well too many people already think that they are the children of benefit scroungers, which they aren’t. Next spring they will make a big thing about sending our super carrier to the South China Seas, in support of the struggles in Hong Kong, but they won’t be saying much about it only having 8 (eight) of our own planes on it, as a result of their not having previously ordered enough. “You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.” ― Abraham Lincoln
That headline doesn’t actually make sense. Translated to English from Tax avoidance tabloid toss it reads ‘Boris Johnson orders Barnier to agree to no deal or watch U.K. prosper in no deal’ Personally I think Somali type deal is a better description anyway.
It’s a tad worrying that Trump could start a Middle East conflict/war before departing office in January. https://www.theguardian.com/comment...Hkb9wWDBlbCLJiUWYsV-Cyhrns#Echobox=1606577785

Normally I’d agree but all nationalist politicians are bad news and deliberately act to plant division, rather than work for the collective good of the people. She’s a much better communicator and balanced politician than Johnson though (not difficult).
