Agree - thats years to build a reputation but moments to destroy it Please bow out now before you blow it mate
I think it's unfair people seem to turn on Matt, after all he did for us on the pitch over a stupid and petty comment from Cortese - he hasn't helped matters by fuelling it up again - was there any need to mention Matt and Lawire? No.
However right Matty may be he's on a hiding to nothing. Cortese walks on water as far as the fans are concerned after all the good things he has done for Saints. I can see this must eat away at MLT but he should shrug and let it go.
Threads like this keeping on stirring things up don't help either. Nothing new has been said, it's just repeating old news.
Poor Matty, the idiot clowns on Sky Sports have influenced his attitude no end. They should shut up, then Matty will shut up (I think he feels like a 'cool kid' in school, one of the gang when he's with the monkeys on a Saturday afternoon, peer pressure - that's the issue)
Does any one know how much money was raised for Help For Heroes at the Old Saints v Combined services at the Silverlake, I know the crowd number was disappointing which was shame because it was a very enjoyable afternoon, but I cannot find any Press reports after the game.
Splendid attempt to change the subject, and I wish I knew the answer. As for Matty, his reputation for me and many fans will be undiminished but, if he, his son Mitchell [who was brilliant in his Dad's testimonial], Lawrie, or anyone starts a war of words against this particular Chairman, at this particular time, they are going to lose popularity, big time. Whilst both MLT and Lawrie made massive contributions to the health, success and popularity of Saints, they were always held back by The Board. Cortese is THE BOARD, and he's the most ambitious bloke in the club, and for the club. That kind of attitude makes him Teflon coated. As a fan of SFC, I'm asking you not to mess with him guys, because you'll lose, and rightly so. He's the future. Thank you for the past.
Dissappointed how quick our own fans are to get on by far our greatest player. Cortese had a go at him and matts right to reply cortese maybe doing good things but he doesnt have the right to try and forget our history
i don't agree with the fans who seem to turn on le tissier, has anyone actually considered Cortese was in the wrong for bringing it up publically?
Neither do I. But then I don't think people should be making such a big deal of this. The chief culprits are the media, and the usually respected Jeff Stelling. What he said was not helpful in the slightest. The fact is, is that Matty and Lawrie are in Saints past, and Nicola is in the present and future. Are we to turn against the brightest prospect of our future..? I think not. Cortese has done little other than publicly saying there have been words of criticism of his and Liebherr's takeover, and that's it. Some people have put two and two together and have come out with totals other than four, IMO. That started a small fire. Hopefully, it will go out.
