Two new sofas so I'll have to actually sit next to my wife and the kids now my armchair is being ditched.

Few drinks to celebrate no doubt.

Watched about half of the first series of The Mandalorian, thought it was ok but not especially interesting. Would fans of it recommend I persevere or not bother?

Yes it gets better, back end of the first series improves each episode, just my opinion of course.

Might pick it back up then, we never wrote it off just didn't feel massively compelled to watch it. I do like a bit of Star Wars though.

Random recommendation for anyone who's interested, Mr Inbetween on sky is great. Aussie crime drama series with some hilarious dialogue and a canny bit of gritty violence, the lead actor is demonic. Well worth a watch.

And now I'm drinking my God-knows-how-manyth cup of coffee of the day, before I tackle cushions for home.
So, good news please, when I eventually get home.

Whee's this womp-rat? Only kidding. I think it had a fairly slow pace at first but there's quite a bit of world building, character introduction and place holding going on in season 1 but it does pick up, especially with the finale. Won't spoil it but will say seeing an IG assassin droid giving it loads on a speeder bike, worth watching just for that imo. I'd also say this was the first live action TV show so I'd say you can see places where they're finding their feet a bit, as well as developing the special effects.

Season 2 is a level above. True cinematic quality in every aspect and it feels like every episode is absoloutely packed with narrative, character and action. I'm of the age that the original's were my introduction and this really does get the feel of those movies, as well as loads of nods to existing Star Wars canon. I have to admit to being a big fan of Rebels and personally thought that was the best Star Wars stuff that had been done since Disney bought Lucasfilm with Rogue One a close second. The Mandalorian is easily up there with them imo.

I did enjoy the scenes with the assassin droid he teamed up with, some great action and quite funny.

I grew up with them too still got the VHS versions somewhere. It's a special series to me, the original films are anyway.

It's the original trilogy era fans that this show is made for imo. John Favreau and Dave Filoni are the two lads responsible for the Mandalorian and they grew up with the originals as well and you can tell. It keeps the feel of them all the way through but has brilliant little touches dotted around. Great example is Episode 3 of Season 1 which goes to the original cantina on Tatooine. That establishment was anti-droid in the first Star Wars film but now it's staffed by droids that were formerly Jabba the Hutt's toture droids.

And you really need to watch the rest of season one if you liked the assassin droid mind. He is completely mint in the finale.
