I was once told the pull-out method was an effective form of contraception.

I call ****ing bullshit on that.

Just been confirmed that there is going to be a Disco Jr some time in June.

Any useful advice welcome.

Congratulations mate. I must say, the one bit of advice I've always passed on after our little lad arrived (6 years ago) is not to listen to any advice! We had so many people saying "you've got to do this, make sure you do that" but really being a parent is a natural thing and you'll find your own way. Don't go thinking something isn't right if it's not how someone else did it, you'll be fine.

My son is 19. Me and Mrs EJK didn’t have a clue about parenting. So the first night we just put him in his bedroom. As you would expect he cried and cried. It lasted about a minute before we said sod that and brought him into our bedroom and he stayed with us.
The reason I’m saying this is that we were given so much advice about getting him used to being in his own bed etc etc. It was all a load of ****e. My advice....just shower the little one with as much love and affection and establish that bond from day one. Hold them and cuddle them constantly and make them feel secure. That’s what it’s all about imo.

I believe its now called the FPP method ....

... pull out at the last minute and leave the other person flat on their back, sweating and looking in a bit of a mess. .

Work as a team and both take every opportunity for power naps. Being a parent is never easy even when they are adults.. However, I wouldn't have changed it for the world.
PS.. Congratulations to all concerned..

Congratulations mate..

Id never held a baby in my life when my twin boys were born 8 years ago. Your fatherly instincts and unconditional love will take over as soon as he/she is born though and before you know it you'll be knee deep in dirty nappies without even batting an eyelid.
The first 12 months will be really hard, but once your baby starts sleeping through and you can start getting a full night's sleep again, things become slightly easier to deal with.
As Raw said, working as a team is very important.
