Adam Pearson saved the club every bit as much as the Allams did. There's lots of talk about the successes that we achieved under Adam, but I think that gets forgotten. From what I could find out, the Hart brothers were the only other gig in town at the time when it came to rescuing us from the Buchanan/Hinchliffe plundering (though there may have been others in the background). Had that happened, I don't think we'd have been a Premier League club within a few years...

As others have mentioned, AP is the architect of the modern Hull City. He made mistakes, but he held his hands up to them. And he treat the club and the fans with a respect that very few chairmen or owners seem to manage. He'll have ruffled a few feathers along the way, I get that, and I think all parties see now that coming back to replace Duffen was not the wisest of moves, but I don't care. His vision and hard work provided us with days, seasons, eras that seemed unimaginable in the 1990s. As someone who loves Hull City, I feel nothing but gratitude towards the man. And I really hope he gets through this horrible illness OK.

What Adam Pearson did was take a rotting carcass of a club and restore it to a decent level.

He did this by total engagement with all stakeholders and concentrating full-time on resurrecting the club's fortunes. A radio station, proper online presence, the City mag, U21 international games, rock concerts- the list is a long one.

He opened up the channels of dialogue with disgruntled fans, dealt with every minor grumble to the point not one single moaner was left and no more issues with plastic pie forks were unresolved.

He demonstrated how to be a football club chairman and how to build up support. He waw everything the Allams are not. Seems almost heresy to mention them in the same post.

I was once sharing a sauna with Sir Adam in Leeds's Turkish Quarter, and as we sat there discussing the merits of obscure post punk electronica bands, a stunning beauty with hair like silken flax wandered in, derobed and proceeded to sit down and start sweating it out with the rest of us. Adam calmly rose to his feet, moved toward her, whispered something in her ear and no word of a lie, she came right there on the spot. No fingers or tops or anything.

He wandered back to sit next to me, and I asked him what he said to her to provoke such a reaction.

His reply? "Trade secret, Tony old son. Doesn't always work though, last time out they had to shut the jacuzzi to deep clean it. Nasty old business. Gotta choose your targets carefully".

He then stood up, broke wind and walked out.

Smooth bastard.
