Professional rugby is almost as much of a basket case financially as professional football....... apart from 1 or 2 clubs they all lose a huge amount of money and rely on the deep pockets of owners to keep the club's going....... London Scottish are essentially an amateur club playing in front of a few hundred spectators and their dogs..... they used to ground share with Richmond when all rugby was amateur and they had a failed attempt at going professional....... they have as much connection with W12 as London Irish have with Kew Bridge, ie none yet they are moving in with real Kew Bridge as it's convenient after being in sunbury and then reading....... doubt it's a starter with London Scottish.....
You know it makes sense to build it on the west coast of Scotland - land will be much cheaper, plenty of it, and most importantly I'll be able to go!
I remember when Chris Wright talked about a new 40K stadium... how long ago was that? We must be the worst organisers as just about every London team has either developed or built a new stadium. Someone once said on another site that 'it will never happen'... starting to believe that now.
Wright (maybe Thompson actually) had the chance to buy some of the land around the ground and school for next to nothing a million years ago. I hope it doesn’t happen if we can’t stay fairly close to W12. Being in London is really what makes us a less gimpy club than Reading or Watford no matter what division we’re in.
Totally agree, all this moving out to the M4 and places will lose our identity. I said years ago they should have bought or tried to buy all the houses on ER.
