I'm not sure about Howe... He done a great job at Bournemouth, twice, but he also played for them and knows that club inside out. I've got a nagging feeling he could be one of them one club managers. I remember he managed Burnley in between and I don't think he very done well there.
I like him a lot personally and I think he deserves another shot at the big time. He always seems to talk a lot of sense.
I've just googled him to see how he done at Burnley and the first thing that popped up is that he's being lined up by 4 premier league clubs. I guess that rules us out now anyway haha
Maybe I'm deluded but I think if I was a manager, especially one who started from scratch like Howe, I'd be very interested in a lower league project with premier league backing.
Having no manager and just telling the players to go out and play football would be of greater benefit at the minute. It couldn't be any worse than the drudgery being dished out now.
It depends if he wants the project that's going to take a few years, at least, to get to the premier league. Or, does he want the premier league club with the project to push them up the league and into Europe.
Wouldn't blame him at all if it was the latter. But I do think he'd consider it and if I was the Swiss bloke I'd be on the phone to him.
At this moment in time I think the manager of Tesco’s opposite the SOL would be just as capable as PP , I was disappointed when he was appointed but have tried to support him all that I can but am now very disillusioned with him and think we need a change . We are still in the top six in the league which highlights how poor the standard is in EFL1 if we had a half decent manager and team we should be capable of winning promotion but we appear to be squandering the opportunity, change things quickly if we are not going to fall by the wayside . Appoint a top notch DOF with lots of experience and an upcoming management team to reverse our run of defeats sooner rather than later .
Yeah mate when it came to spending money he was shyte, really shyte. He spent 20m for Solanke and a similar amount for Ibe. 28m for Lerma, 15m for Lloyd Kelly off Bristol City and 28m for a player ive never even heard of from Club brugges, all in the last few years once theyd established themselves and he needed to think outside the box to take them to the next level. They are only the expensive signings theres been alot of 4 and 5m flops aswell. Thats a massive amount of money to waste for a club the size of Bournemouth. Some managers are really good until they have abit of cash to spend. He'd be great for us now cause we're skint, but ideally id like to see someone stay long term.
I think you could strike a good balance of a Wenger type DoF in charge of transfers and a Howe in charge of the day to day management. It's a tricky one, Guardiola has spent a fortune and yet has no idea what a decent defender looks like. Mourinho spent the same at Utd and left gaping holes in the squad. Even Wenger who I referenced and we'd be very lucky to get as DoF was completely blind to the obvious failings of his side.
Yeah that'd be great if we could pull it off. Howe is more of a Head coach than a day to day manager. Weve got players like Grigg on our books still that cost nearly 4m. We really need to get it right now in our staff recruitment because previous bad decisions are sucking the life from our club.
That man u team was awful yet he got them to finish second behind an excellent man city side. It was harsh on him I think didnt he win the Europe league aswel?
Don't know why. I said Keane. Surprised myself. Think he'd get the best from the limited talent players in league 1. No team would try harder. With cash I could see him getting us up to the premier league in maybe 3 seasons.
Pearson had **** all to do with those transfers. They had a very established system of head coach and head of recruitment.
The problem with going for a former manager is we already know their faults. The pi** taking party in regards to wages was at it's worst under Keane, and we now have a wage cap whilst we are in league one. The Southampton result broke Poyet, and should we get tonked by someone, would it again send him ultra negative, or would we start looking for that if we got well beat. Think a new approach with someone new would be the way to go. That said, I could see Poyet happening due to Sartori.
