This could go down like a lead balloon but I thought it might be good to have a thread which focuses on interesting stats and analyses (more for the nerds but hopefully the old school generation might find it interesting as well!)

First post is focusing on our presses leading to shots - this is one of our biggest playmakers. Pressing high up the pitch, forcing the opposition to make errors and hopefully pouncing on it. As you can see above, our latest 6 game average is amongst the lowest it''s been for a while.

We can't expect the usual system with so many missing: Fabinho, Keita, Ox, Thiago (top presser in his only starts - add to that VVD's loss, meaning we're dropping our def line.

The high-line allowed us to keep the team compact from defence to attack and enable the pressing chains and therefore gegenpressing. With it dropping back there are bigger gaps between the defence - midfield - attack making it a little harder as well as the loss of key pressers.

Expect more of the performances we've seen until these players can come back.

Klopp holding at 94 points from the last 38 EPLgames, still 2 more than any other [HASHTAG]#LFC[/HASHTAG] manager in history despite the post-title dip and myriad problems this season.

Below chart shows the # opp offsides - since VVD joined. Red line is 3 game average - it has plummeted in last month. 1 offside in last 3 games, and that was against FC Midtjylland.

Again, it highlights that we are now dropping deeper and thus unable to play the offside trap as effectively as we have done over the past 2 years.

This is very good, well done.

I'm not one for statistical analysis, much more gut feeling. However I do see the value, especially long term in looking at the numbers dispassionately.

I appreciate the effort

This is a really interesting graph which indicates that our defence isn't as bad as first thought - we're busy in attack by taking the most shots but we're also not conceding many shots either. This could suggest a few things:

- We're very unlucky in that the opposition are converting their few chances against us at an incredibly high rate
- We're making mistakes in key areas thus conceding few but very high quality chances for the opposition
- the keepers are simply not saving the shots at the required rate

Also worth highlighting that our numbers are badly skewed because of the Villa game ...

I do wonder how he will be viewed when he finally leaves lfc. You put his stats up against the best strikers the clubs ever had the the guy is better or as good as the vast majority of them. I know hard to compare forwards from diff eras but can’t forget he plays out on the wing the majority of the game and then runs into the middle. Very different from old school strikers who didn’t leave the penalty box and had wingers putting chances on a plate for them.

Add the fact he’s been part of most successful side for 30 years, still feel for some reason he’s massively undervalued by lfc fans and others across football.

In terms of forward play, him and Suarez best two in my life time hands down.

Suarez is by far the best player I've ever seen. The lad was a genius on a football pitch.

Salah is an absolute machine, weve been very spoilt with forwards over the years, even recently with fowler, Owen & torres. I wonder if thats why he's not treated as the outstanding player he is.

Peter was alright, decent but never a liverpool centre forward.

When you look at one list fowler, owen, torres ,suarez, mane, salah.

Then you've got baros, Carol, Bellamy, crouch, etc.

We've been spoilt and subjected to some ****e. Often in a very short space of time
