Hmmm...what do people think about this?
Absolutely spot on.
Imagine growing up as a kid wanting to be a footballer and finally achieving your life long dream, you want to play football because you love it and presumably want to be the best you can and a winner
Do you really need to look at a manger to motivate you? if so you are in the wrong type of job, go sit in an office and watch the clock.

All this shows is that you have little understanding of the variation in humans and how different all their needs are. It also shows why Keane was a failure as a manager.

1. What is your education/profession ??
2. What motivates you ??

1. I am a CS grad, and work in telecoms sys R+D (software primarily, some hw/mech eng) .

2. The challenge of devising the best solution to any problem put in front of me.
Not money (I am paid well, but could have earned far more in my lifetime doing
repetitive or far less important society improving work) .

Over to you ...

Now imagine that you grew up wanting to play for Manchester United and be managed by Sir Alex Ferguson and you end up with Ole At The Wheel.
Depressing, isn't it?

Shakhtar Donetsk beat Real Madrid 3-2 at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano in their first Champions League group game this season.
They then drew 0-0 with Inter in the second match.
They're currently losing 6-0 at home to A German Team in injury time. They haven't had anyone sent off or anything, either.
This season is mental.
