This may be construed as needlessly grumpy, but I really don’t like the metal poppy/Premier League club combo badge.

Why the poppy has to be welded to (say) a Chelsea badge God to only knows. I’m sure most clubs can lay claim to a player that laid down his life for country and, presumably, attaching a footie club to a the poppy increases sales amongst Neanderthal fans that put their club support ahead of wartime valour, but...

...it’s a bit naff.

Been thinking exactly this for a few seasons now

I had never noticed but I agree. Naff.

Yep, a pressing problem of our times.

A thousand apologies, Col, but it’s a affliction of mine that I’m capable of expressing an opinion on a variety of topics on an ongoing basis, some on important topics and others on some that are less so.

I see Jonah Lumley was unable to save Gillingham from a home defeat by Sunderland yesterday

In a Gillingham performance not unlike some of our own recently, Gills missed a penalty, had a straight red, conceded a penalty and then a late second goal

No need for a thousand appologies, one will suffice. I was simply viewing it as "needlessly grumpy", as you intimated. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I'd like to think that all proceeds go to the British Legion but knowing the Premier League...

Decent of Gillingham to go out of their way to make him feel at home!

Perhaps it a witches curse on Lumley...any club he is with is cursed...hang on that don't work. He wasn't with us yesterday...but obviously I do blame him for the two penalties we conceded

Beth - I blamed Karl Henry for the two penalties conceded :-).
Good to see Villa starting to fall down the table.
I hope that Joe Lumley gets the chance to play a few more games at Gillingham maybe till end of Jan...
