I said after the Brummie bore that I couldn't fathom Warbs tactics or set-up, tonight for the first 25 mins we looked a cohesive unit dictating play, then Dickie cocks it up and we literally fell apart. The 2nd half was dross and took me back to the days we would ship a hatful of goals on regular occasions just waving the white flag.

Warbs clearly doesn't do defensive strategy, we are looking vulnerable whenever pressured and with Dickie now missing for Saturday another re-jig won't help. Why we failed to strengthen the back line is beyond me instead of the assorted wingers brought in late, Warbs is looking like a dead man walking but who would replace him?...

We started well, but dont think we had a shot on target then concede, lost Dickie and fall apart as badly or worse than we did against Preston, and vacated the centre of the park as badly as against Birmingham. Seemed nonsense to go 3 at the back and 2 up front when we are a man short, pretty unusual I think especially playing 2 strikers with only 10 men, and with one Bonne not doing well at all.

Conclusion- Neither Didley nor the team had clean sheets after that performance.

Not only is Warburton tactically inept, he isn't a "football person", came to the game late and has zero empathy with, and complete contempt for the supporters.
His comments about 'keyboard warriors' was a real slap in the face for long suffering fans.

To be fair the majority of those slagging him off on Twitter are proper special but he’s an idiot to even bring it up when we’re playing terribly and haven’t scored for four games. Doesn’t reflect well on him.

Saying that I’m not sure where he goes from here with a horrible run of games to come with the squad he has, partially of his own making and poor use of the small budget he’d have been given.

I don’t think it’s a bad thing to have had a real career (a very successful one) before football.

Am I imagining it or was there some rule change about a pen and a red being too harsh and should be pen and yellow?? Sure I've heard that from a commentator sometime.

Only if you play the ball is the rule I believe unless it changed again. So a mistimed tackle is a yellow. A stupid push to stop a goal is still a red. I think he’s a big improvement on what we had and is by far our best CB but that was genuine ****ing idiocy on his part.

Rules are rules but it seems overly harsh to get a red and a pen. Just like Jens Lehmann in the Champions League final way back when. They seem to be reconsidering a lot of the rules at the moment, so maybe they will throw this into the mix.

He is getting pelters from all sites and media about those comments. That tells me he is losing his patience with things. I wonder if that has an effect on the players? Been saying for a long time that we are not improving. The idea is to get better every year. Remember it's a competition and the idea is to win and get promoted. We keep losing to rubbish sides that don't spend as much as us.
Every time I see Burnley (although a crap start this year). I admire how they got promoted the same year as we did, didn't waste money like we did, and have stayed in the Prem. The right fit manager without changing every 5 minutes and hard players that don't give up even when losing 3-0. I look back at how we wasted money on Washington when there were better, cheaper forwards out there at the time. It's like we never seem to learn from previous mistakes? Sell your best players and buy inferior ones that end up being... inferior.
 
Last night's game was really strange, for me....

I actually never thought we were playing bad, at any point in the match.

The incident with Dickie was obviously stupid. A bad decision in a split second moment. The second goal... two strikers went across in front of Dieng and I don't think he could quite see when the shot was released. It happens. And the final goal... well... another stupid individual mistake in a split second moment. It was a strange, unfortunate night for us.

However, aside from those two silly moments, I can't think of a player who played badly. Bonne was perhaps ineffective and didn't offer much, but everyone seemed to put in a real shift, even after going 3-0 down. A lot of players upped their games last night. Ball was back to the player we knew he could be. Good individual moments from all the defenders (aside from the two blunders). Willock looks a good player. Adomah looked like he can find some good form. They actually looked to be working well together.

By god, even Kane looked quality when he came on. Why can he only play like that when we're losing badly with 10 men??

This doesn't mean I forgive Dickie and Barbet for their ridiculous mistakes. They need to learn from that. But I'm just trying to express that there were a number of positives in that match. On another day, without those two mistakes, I reckon we would have been very competitive and probably walked away with 3 points.

However, the fact that things like this keep happening means that the coaching is not good under Warburton. The energy from the players is good but the discipline is not.

Another disappointing result hits us all. Very surprised that we are where we are considering the promising buys in the last transfer window.

Lots of pelters for Dickie, who clearly made a silly error, however he has all the promise of a strong centre back and leader for us for a few seasons ahead (assuming he has improved to a level he is bought). He has made the step up a division and is bound to make a mistake or two while he learns the landscape of the Championship and the pressures a new standard of player will give. I believe he will adapt and be strong for us.

Bonne and Dykes seem to be grafters and not want to give up. However they’re role might be to score, but we need to create opportunities and allow them to attack defences. We have been crap at delivering good ball and opportunities to strikers for seasons now (last season being the exception with the creativity from Eze and BOS, which as we all know is lacking this season). They will come good ... but please give them the service they deserve. I’m interested to see how they both build together and hopefully become a potent force.

Definitely disappointed, but do feel there is a good team there capable of being top half if not top ten. However it is miles from there at the moment. The ingredients are there (except for the midfield creativity I completely agree) we just need to maximise the talent and get some answers from the midfield to get those goals.

Still early days.
