Ozil has been left out of their EL squad and the question is ........ apart from paying the wages for Gunnersaurus what is the point of him ?

Are we still entertaining the "fairytale" Narrative?

Scholes was a fantastic player, but he's got all the charisma of a dead stoat.
Replacing a manager who is currently unbeaten this season with one who flopped at Oldham is a bit odd.
I assume that they've got somebody lined up and it's probably not Gareth "PTSD from Valencia" Neville.

<laugh> Your'e a true dustbin man, take everything in

You have missed about 30 players off that list <ok>

Palace signed Jack Butland for around £1m.

I know he had a rough season but Stoke rejected a £25m bid from Pool about 2 years ago IIRC.

Palace already have three first team keepers but all are around 32/33 so this could be a good move for Butland if he gets his chances, Guaita's been pretty good for them though so won't lose his spot easily. If he can get back to the form that got him in the England squad a few years back it could prove one of the bargains of the summer.

Hennessey's out for a few weeks. Had to come off with a thigh strain in Wales game on Wednesday. I thought he'd been shot when he went down.

Surprised that Liverpool didn't go back in for him at that price, given their current situation.
Could've loaned out Kelleher to get him first team experience and it would've been a minimal risk, really.

Somebody somewhere surely needs to be looking into the drastic decline of England keepers over the past few years, be it Joe Hart going from starting for club and country to being understudy to Nick Pope, to Butland going from being England's youngest keeper to somebody that clubs apparently forgot existed so he spent two seasons in the Championship with Stoke before Palace signed him for peanuts

Pickford's also gone to pot, McCarthy and Forster look dodgy at Southampton and there's not a lot out there coming through.
Henderson had a great season at Sheffield United and is now Man Utd's backup.
Ramsdale has replaced him, so perhaps he'll replicate his form, too?

If we want to replace Gazzaniga with a homegrown option in the near future, then I think we're going to struggle.
In house is one way to go, but it's a big risk with two keepers lacking any real experience.

It's really noticeable when you see that David Seaman or David James never went to pot soon after being selected as England's first choice

Even more so when you remember that David James went to pot when Seaman was still established

That's a really nice gesture from him. I think he'll be a very good signing for them too, unfortunately.
