As with Lewis, I think this is a good deal for all concerned. Ben gets a 5 year contract with a good club, Everton get a player with a good future and we get a £30m deal with which to strengthen the squad over time. Gibson's performance reassures me that we have a ready made replacement who is left footed and well experienced. Suddenly we no longer have a back line where 3 out of four are promising youngsters. Once again, SW seems to have been ahead of the game here.
But I presume they've already pocketed a tidy sum from the sale of Ollie Watkins to Villa. He was a product of the Exeter academy, and played for Exeter City before his move to Brentford.
