When you see the girls video of the call it is pretty obvious that they were properly set up - they still had to fall for it though and could always have said no but I know for sure that when I was their age it was guaranteed that I would have done exactly what they did!!

Sending them home in disgrace and letting their clubs deal with them is enough of a punishment for me.

Not seen any video and have no wish too.

While all the criticisim is no doubt justified, lets add that they have made themselves look like a couple of fools.

If they are lucky they will learn by their mistake, it's how most of us got by.

BUT, if they have a brain cell or two that works it might just dawn on them that in the high profile proffession they have chosen for themselves, perhaps the most important rule is 'don't get caught if you are breaking the rules'.

The rules are... they can't have sex.

In what world are teenagers going to follow that rule?

Not the one I grew up in.

They were punished as they should have been. All sorted.

That's not the rule though, is it? The rule is... don't have sex for one week whilst away on international duty for your first ever call-up with the national team. I'd think most people could stick to that.

Having said that, they're young and, quite clearly, thick as pigshit; the punishment probably just about fits the crime, imo. If they get vilified in the press and it negatively impacts their careers then that's their own problem - maybe they'll think twice before being a couple of irresponsible dickheads next time.

From a moral perspective, however, Foden in particular is an absolute ****. Acting like that in the current climate is bad enough, but doing it when you have a long-term GF and a baby at home? Nah, no excuse. I'd not feel any sympathy if he broke both his legs in his first match back (not wishing it on him by any means, but it'd just be karma in my opinion).

Sports teams go on trips and **** happens.

The married pros do it, the younger ones are going to do it. Lads are lads.

Yes they broke the rules and they got punished. As well they should have been.

Foden cheating on his missus? Yeah, it's ****. Hardly news though. Barely out of his teens millionaire bangs beauty queen.

Silly **** but that's the world they live in.

A tad harsh perhaps?....personal reasons?

Moral indignation of a torygraph/daily heil reader?

At least you WILL have company, (socialy spaced of course), if you are shot down.

Is it stupidity or arrogance that gets them to do this?
Can't hurt ME, I'm young, fit and healthy.
OR
I'm a Pro-Footballer. There's not much anybody can do to me and I can aford it anyhow.
These so called rules are for the little people.

Perhaps if they were given a twelve month (or more), ban from the England Squad that might serve to make the point but I have my doubts.
The arrogance bit would kick in when they would decide that England needed THEM much more than they needed England.

Go to it Gareth.
GO AND POROVE THEM WRONG.

They should be paying a fine like everyone else should in that situation.

You wouldn't ban a bus driver from earning his living for going to his mate's birthday party. You definitely shouldn't waste 12 months of someone's already short career.

Your post specifically calls out that there shouldn't be one rule for one and one rule for the other.

And then suggests a rule especially for them.

Maybe a humbling apology and some work in the community might be useful given their profile.

totally disagree
These people are taking the piss

Pre meditated crime

I would definitely have thought heading out to their mate's was pre-meditated.

Would be awfully coincidental if not.

I agree punishment needs to be dished out. 100%. Not arguing that.

I just don't see how you enforce that for one portion of the country and not the rest.

Doesn't scream fair, progressive country to me.

Some thing more serious needs to be done
Or others will jump on the bandwagon again as previously happened
Stricter penalties

People are going to do what people are going to do.

Over the top rules won't change that. They'll cause riots.

Totally agree. All these apologies after the event is pathetic. They know exactly what they're doing.

Under normal circumstances I'd agree with your every word.
But these are public figures.
High profile.
Exceptionaly well paid.

Along with these benefits comes responsibilties.
And you have read rather more into my post than is written.
I have not suggested their losing any employment opprtunities EXCEPT for the honour of representing THEIR Country.

And it's also MY countey and I'd rather that I wasn't represented by such people.

They get paid to pay for England it isn't an amateur pursuit anymore.

They are kids, they went to a party. They will get punished and life will move on.

If the Covid-19 rules were reasonable and well thought out I'd be more inclined to agree.

The prime minister is currently harping on that people should go back to cinemas. Etc.
