Northampton is home to the biggest market square in England which was established in 1189 around All Saint’s Church.

Comedian Alan Carr's dad Graham was a half-back and was later the manager of The Cobblers.

Des O’Connor (a born and bred Northampton lad) had a brief professional football career at the club during the Second World War.

The town played host to England’s last ever witch executions when Elinor Shaw and Mary Phillips were burned to death in 1705.

Northampton hosted England’s only recorded case of someone being “pressed to death”. This form of execution was reserved for felons who refused to plead and entailed heavier and heavier weights being placed on their chest until a confession was made or the prisoner died.

Margaret Bondfield was the first female Cabinet Minister in Britain.

John Bayles is said to have lived to the ripe old age of 130. If true, he would hold the record of being the oldest man in history by a spectacular margin of 14 years. His grandson, a well known poster on some internet forums, is carrying on the tradition, and is currently 112 years old.

The first Apricots in Britain were grown in Northamptonshire.

Britain's first ever car chase took place in Northampton, reaching speeds of up to 15mph.

The world’s first RADAR demonstration took place in Daventry on February 26, 1935, with the supervision of Robert Watson-Watt, pioneer of the radar.

I think I would be happy with a draw, they have got off to a reasonable start with a draw and an away win. Having seen Crewe who looked half decent, another newly promoted team, who had a good season to get promoted, won't be a pushover.

Hoping for the win, and on paper, we should come out on top, but as we know this is City we are talking about.

Same goalkeeper and backline as last week, with Alfie Jones or Batty in for Smallwood as holding midfielder. Wilks up top with Mayer and KLP on the flanks.

In the 1960s cobblers went
Div 4, Div 3, Div 2, Div 1, Div 2, Div 3, Div 4.
in consecutive seasons.
What a load of divies.
Never being done again.
