I may have missed this question before, but why when he announces additional measures are they always a few days before implementation. For example pubs, restaurants etc. will shut at 10.00pm from Thursday, why not immediately?

This is true. Herd immunity is a myth, as it’s literally never been sustainably achieved without a vaccine.Herd immunity or resistance is impossible without a vaccine. It's not possible to have enough people exposed to it naturally unless you're also willing to accept a massive death toll. Plus if you survive and don't have any long term problems the antibodies disappear after 3 months anyway.
One of my colleagues at work today was saying this. Really makes sense.Out of interest, does your first paragraph work the other way round, in that people who are wanting strict lockdowns would be up in arms if a young relatives cancer diagnosis was fatally missed?
I really don't see why we should keep locking everyone down for years. Is it possible that it's causing more harm than good?
I'm not suggesting a free for all btw, I think we should certainly be protecting people in the most vulnerable category like yourself the best we can.
What should happen is that West Ham are disqualified mate, and Hull awarded the tieDavid Moyes and two players tested positive tonight and I believe they were sent home from the London Stadium where they are playing Luton.
This raises several questions.
1. How can the game go ahead when the west ham players have been in contact with the manager and David Moyes?
2. What (if anything) does it mean for Arsenal and Newcastle who they have played in the past 10 days?

Just wondering cos it's currently being played...does the other players testing negative mean there is no chance of the rest of the west ham squad are cspable of being carriers? What should happen is that West Ham are disqualified mate, and Hull awarded the tie![]()

Out of everything I've heard and read throughout the past 6 month debacle, this from CMO Chris Whitty sums EVERYTHING up perfectly.
"My final point is that if I increase my risk, a lot of people say, well, can’t people just be allowed to take their own risk? The problem with a pandemic or an epidemic infection like this is if I as an individual increase my risk, I increase the risk to everyone around me and then everyone who’s a contact of theirs, and sooner or later the chain will meet people who are vulnerable or elderly or have a long term problem from Covid. So you cannot in an epidemic just take your own risk. Unfortunately, you’re taking a risk on behalf of everybody else."
He said the four things to do are reducing individual risk by washing hands and using masks, quarantine measures, and investing in vaccines and drugs.
“The third one, and in many ways the most difficult, is that we have to break unnecessary links between households because that is the way in which this virus is transmitted,” he said.
THIS is the reason why we continue to be in the mess we're in and this is the reason why we have to have further restrictions. And people still honestly believe that they are making decisions for themselves which will have no bearing on others. And that mentality above all else is why we'll continue to remain in this mess, especially considering only about 8% of the population have had the infection and there's still 92% to go.
It's ok..I will go to work tomorrow.Have to clock in a different door from day shift leaving. .Keep 2 metres apart, have my temp taken.
But once inside, well nothing has changed.
I'm in a git big bubble, relying on a shift off about 70 people to do the right thing.Oh I don't doubt that Comm, and none of us want our liberties restricted or livelihoods threatened, but what I've seen is the ones who bitch most about the restrictions are the same ones who think they can do whatever the fck they like. They don't seem to be able to make the connection in their head that one is as a result of the other.

Although we had the first case recently.
Well not quite, but basically I'm having to work with different year groups on any give day. I hope I don't jinx it but we haven't had a single case in 3 weeks. Bound to happen at some point though.I'm in a bubble with 840, all kidsWell not quite, but basically I'm having to work with different year groups on any give day.
