this leaves an important vacancy that may not be filled until after the november 3rd election. whether the vacancy is filled by the "left" or right will be critical for many years to come. the most recent appointee from the current administration, john roberts, has confounded expectations many times already by voting with the progressives, leading to fears from some quarters that someone has dirt on him.

apologies for political references; it concerns someone involved in politics. many legal positions in the us are either elected or appointed by politicians.

the 1946 derby cup final team included future tiger raich carter and former tiger dally duncan, as we all know.

Terry Goodkind, 72. Author of the "Sword of Truth" novels. The quality of the books varied dramatically over time from very good to laughably bad. Nothing will ever compensate for the TV series that made a total mess of them and (almost) convinced me to never again watch a series or film based on writing that I liked.
Never saw the TV version. You'll not be watching WoT next year then? ;)

He actually died at the end of August, but I didn’t want to bump the old thread, Shiro Kishibe, who played Sandy in the cult TV show Monkey has died aged 71 (that show always reminds me of Chinese takeaways, as it was always on while we ate ours on a Friday night).

It's topical now amidst all the furore over BLM, but Monkey taught me a life-long lesson about the importance of representation. My best mate at school was of Japanese heritage and whilst he never let it get to him too much all he'd had for ages was the inevitable people singing 'Turning Japanese' at him, or probably equally inevitable various mis-attributed Chinese chop-socky references to 'Ah, Grasshopper' from Kung-Fu, or The Water Margin. Then this appeared on the telly and suddenly he had something from his parents' culture that we could all identify with and celebrate. And we all loved it, even the attempted bullies.

RIP Shiro Kishibe - your influence reached north Hull and made at least one lad's life much better.
