I know stats are meaningless like possession , and they don’t always win games . But at half time in Sunderland game it was 10 attempts to 2 , could basically have been the stats from any post lockdown game . Unless you have the most clinical finishers in the world, doesn’t take a brain surgeon to realise you are not going to win many games unless you change something .

Burnys gave him a bit of a grilling though. No wonder he felt uncomfortable.
Don't think there's a lot of love lost between the two of them.
He has more patience then me because I'd of stood up and told Burnys to **** off then walked out.
I know what you mean. I know because of last season we've lost faith in McCann but think at times Burns was definitely trying to be awkward for the sake of it. McCann says we're aiming for automatic, so Burns says 'aren't you putting pressure on yourself?' If McCann had said we're just hoping we do ok, Burns would have said 'aren't you lacking ambition?'

If McCann believes KLP to be a 'special talent' then surely L1 is a stage that he'll shine on?
It has to be time to give him a run in the team, especially as our need for a player who can score goals has rarely been greater.

The first professional football match I ever attended was at Priestfield (long story), so I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for the Gills and know a couple of fans. They still love Tom Eaves and are disappointed they can’t be there to see him today.

He’s injured anyway mate

So, streaming wise, I take it that tigerstv is no more (all the web pages are 404 not found) and we have to sign up to ifollow now?

I’m swithering because I’m already paying the club £60 per month for us to watch the team, with no word in what we are actually going to get for that money. no local radio commentary so I feel blackmailed into paying for a stream. If the relationship between owners and fans were better, I’d be happy to support the club financially, but it feels like I’m just financing Ehabs next vanity plate.

Swithering? Typo or word I’ve never heard of?

Gonna be a tough game today.

Hull City 'too big' for League One but Gillingham boss wants opening-day giant killing

Gillingham boss Steve Evans
Gillingham boss Steve Evans says Hull City are “too big” for League One as the two clubs prepare to begin a new season at Priestfield tomorrow afternoon.

Two relegations inside four seasons have dragged the Tigers down from the Premier League to the third tier and this weekend brings a first game at this level since promotion was won under Peter Taylor in 2004-05.

The 15 years in between have brought five years in the top-flight, an FA Cup final and a Europa League adventure but Grant McCann is facing a very different challenge this season.

City’s head coach has been given the task of guiding his team back to the Championship at the first attempt and Evans is respectful of a new “giant” joining the likes of Portsmouth and Sunderland in League One.

“They will want to bounce straight back and I know the power of Hull City,” said Evans, who starts his second season in charge of the Gills.

Hull City head coach Grant McCann (left) exchanges words with Sunderland manager Phil Parkinson
“I was in Yorkshire for many years with Rotherham and Leeds United and I know how much they want to start well but we want to start well too and we want to make it competitive.

“I know their manager (Grant McCann). He is a friend of mine and lives local to me. Grant will want to prove he is the manager that will lead them back up to the Championship. It is too big a club to be in League One, it’s another giant.”

City can expect an inhospitable welcome from a Gillingham side considered an outside bet for the top six.

Evans’ men lost only eight of their 35 league games before the Covid-19 pandemic forced a lockdown in the lower divisions and were 10th when the action was called to a halt.

A summer of personnel changes, including the exit of City man Alfie Jones and the capture of Tigers academy graduate Robbie McKenzie, makes Gillingham more of an unknown quantity but there is still optimism within the camp that they can mix it with League One’s best.

One thing missing from a juicy opener at Priestfield will be supporters as clubs continue to wait on a green light to open their gates to a limited number.

Alfie Jones spent last season on loan at Gillingham
“It is just a shame,” Evans added to Kent Online. “That Town End would have had 2,500 Hull fans behind them. It would have been a great crowd and a buzzing atmosphere.

“We need to create that ourselves but that is the same for every football club up and down the country. I don’t like it, I think it’s rubbish, but you have to be self-motivated.

“Some players will play better with no crowd, some respond to spectators and a crowd.

“It is really sad in these times it has to be done but I am very respectful for people who have lost loved ones.

“I have been through that pain recently, nothing to do with Covid, but my mother (died) and it was the worst two weeks of my life so I can imagine if you are watching someone die from that virus it must be incredibly tough.”
If that photo is Alfie Jones, I think he looks a lot like Peter Halmosi, might just be the long hair though.<confused>

Jon Toral starts in the centre of midfield for Birmingham. Ballsy.

Ex-Tigers David Stockdale and Ryan Tafazolli on the bench for Wycombe, Angus McDonald also on the bench for Rotherham.

Judging from his pre-match interview, I don't think McCan't can even convince himself that we're in for a decent season let alone anyone else.

Has he said Gillingham are a tough team yet, and play a way which we need to deal with?’or does that come in the post match interview?. Looking forward to 4 years down the line and he’s telling us Boreham Wood are a good team and have given us a difficult game.
No, but he's used the 'It's going to be a tough game excuse'
