We go round in circles a little.
I believe a lot of what the government have done to get the economy going can be carried out in a reasonably safe way, ensuring social distancing etc.
Other activities that disregard these guidelines are adding to the increase we're seeing now imo.
Statistics seem to point towards the under 30s who are mostly getting infected.
Good luck with everything at yours mate.
My missus has been back at work for a while now and the nursery is now fully open. I'm very worried that we'll be in your position soon.

    Good luck.

To be honest mate the whole thing is bollox.
I mean to say.....out of my 3 kids they probably have 2-3 instances of coughs/colds/pyrexia a year.....they’re kids, kids get these things and usually we’d just send them to bed and keep them off school for a day or so, they get better and all done.
Now all 3 have to be off, as well as me off from work, for up to 2 weeks or until we get a negative result (which I’m 99% sure it will be).
Not blaming anyone at all but I do wonder how long we can all cope with this with kids losing education and my service losing staff.

I keep hearing about decisions being made based on the number of positive Covid cases per 100,000 of population in a certain area. Indeed that's how we currently judge whether people must quarantine when entering the UK from overseas - anything over 20 per 100,000 is considered dangerous. But this number is purely a function of how many tests are done - the actual number will be much higher.

If town A and town B both have 100,000 inhabitants and town A tests all of them, they may find 50 positive cases - most of them asymptomatic - and this would result in immediate lockdown measures being taken. If town B tests 10% if its population and finds 5 positive cases, it has the same rate of infection, but would be considered safe.

The statistics upon which decisions are being made are deeply flawed, but no one seems to question them.

With schools reopening I expect the infection rate to increase causing further restrictions.

The thing is though Bob, kids will always pass on viruses and coughs and colds, as I say my kids have them all the time. But the vast majority are not corona, just a cough or cold.....how long do we do this for ?

Honestly dont know mate. Schools generally (as you say) have always been a breeding town for viruses. I suppose the answer, as it always has been, is testing.

As I’m frontline staff I’ve been given a certain number to ring to sort a test out.....dunno if it will be quicker but still with 3 kids x 3 occasions a year x 3 days off work that works out a lot of potential working days lost.
I get paid but probably lose shift allowance, meal allowance etc.....I can afford to But can see why others less fortunate might be attempted to just go in and hope for the best

I just dont quite get it. People get to work, kids get back to school but you're not allowed to meet more than 6 people. Its strange

The answer my friend is the test and trace system.

So Stainseys kid has a cough...Stainseys family have to isolate until he gets a test result (negative...everyone back to work; positive proper isolation), which I am told is within 24 hours. (It is not).

But the test and trace system should then be telling all of the three childrens school bubble friends and teachers to isolate too ...and all of Stainseys work mates to isolate...likewise his wifes workmates.

Obviously they are not, or the logarithmic growth of the trace and track contact system would have half the population of work very quickly.

This system has not been thought out well...and is let down by testing system, which I am told is due to initial desire to set up mega labs (privately run...what a surprise) and not use the diagnostic labs that are already set up in hospitals to at least take the local strain. Ther sight and desire of big companies to make money out of the pandemic overrode common sense again

And those big companies are usually just handed the contracts by their pals.

I think what we're all saying, with maybe one or two exceptions, is that many mistakes have been made, most well meant imo and that the whole world is trying to come up with a solution to this thing.
It hasn't helped that most of the cabinet are inexperienced and out of their depth, but we seem to be forever trying to square a circle.

Thousands sent to their deaths in care homes, but a genuine mistake.
