Crumbs......another biscuit thread, gingers, you can never have enough gingers.

It has to be Ringtons Ginger Snaps, great for dunking, added bonus no-one else in our family likes gingers - result!

I do feel a bit sorry though for the delivery guy, he stands and listen to my rants about City and the nutters in charge, while patiently waiting for his money. At least he's now another convert to anti Allam.
Ringtons ginger are the biscuit of the Gods. The delivery bloke has a similar problem at our house, Tigress. He has to stand there and wait while whoever went to the door goes around the house shouting "It's Ringtons, do you want out?".

But yeah. Ringtons Ginger is the biscuit of the Gods.

Next time I see him I'm going to rant like **** about the Allams for an hour <laugh>

My favourite biscuit is McVitie's dark chocolate digestive. Just come back from the local supermarket with 10 packets at half price. They are imported from the UK.

Was a big fan of Wagon Wheels, as was my husband, until as a student back in the 50's he worked for a short time at the Weston factory making them. After hearing about what he saw there I have never had one since.

My uncle once found himself in a factory where they were making Russian Slice and never touched it again.

Do they even make Russian Slice any more, I can't remember seeing it for years?

Could you all stop talking about this subject please. I mean **** happens. I've seen things in my time that I'll never be able to unsee :emoticon-0119-puke:

My husband worked at Filey Butlins for a few weeks in the 50's. Applied for a Redcoat job but like you ended up in the kitchens. When I was last in Hull in 1985 we went to visit one of his relatives in Filey and during the visit went to view the Butlins site which had closed down a couple of years earlier.

FILEY seadog worked at Filey Butlins in 1976 at the amusement park.
So I might have met Filey after all, I worked at Butlins Filey in 1976 in the restaurant. The amount of food that fell onto the floor and the 30 second rule was used :emoticon-0104-surpr

Good question. I haven't seen it in years. Think I used to get it from Skellys.

I rarely go in Cooplands/Greggs sort of places these days so not sure.

one of the shops nearby when i was younger (hick's?) sold these large (similar diameter to wagon wheels) round biscuits with lots of chocolate on looking like it had been ploughed. they were called shrewsbury biscuits and were very nice. i've been looking for them ever since and even the people of shrewsbury know nothing about them.

Where was the shop?

Never heard of a Shrewsbury biscuit but google tells me they don’t have chocolate on??!

there's a shrewsbury cake (on wiki) and several sites claim recipes for shrewsbury biscuits that look like wiki's shrewsbury cakes.. whatever it was, it did have chocolate on, i doubt i'll get to the bottom of the puzzle.

I used to call into Hick’s on the corner of Wyndham Street and Wenlock Street every day on my way to school, they used to do a round shortcake biscuit with jam in the middle, a bit like a jammy dodger but a zillion times nicer.
