RIP Boom Boom, a good technical boxer who made one of the biggest mistakes in his life when he fought marvellous Marvin Hagler.
    His line pre fight
No n***** is taking my title off me!
He got battered. Marvin was understandably quite angry

Yes, that fight saw the birth of a sporting great. The Cockney crowd reacted with their usual grace and sportsmanship.

    RIP Alan Minter

I was only thinking about him the other day.
I put him in the top 10 British boxers of the late 20th century, along with the likes of Bomber Graham, Nigel Benn, Michael Watson, Charlie Magri, Dave Boy Green and Barry McGuigan.

Lloyd Honeygan was immense. Dismantled the pound for pound best boxer of the time Don Curry. In his own country. Made him quit on his stool. To me the best ever performance from a British boxer

Just came across this in hdm
Gav was a kid same age as me died in the mid 80’s. Must be heartbreaking losing your only son in his early 20’s. His name is on the City flag with Nicky B, Rooney lumby etc
    RIP Gav in memorium
Gavin SydneyHAWKERCherished memories of our only beloved son Gavin. Time and years slip by son, but lovely memories never die. In God's care you rest above, in our hearts you stay with love. Only a whisper away Gav. Sleep peacefully. God Bless Mam and Dad x x

Ditto Lumby- spent many away trips with him the capital, where he had relatives

Orient away 5-4, he opted on the tube last min to see WHU-EFC and thought I was taking the piss afterwards when we met up again and I told him the score and how the game went. (West Ham - Everton finished 0-0.)

Always remembered as a great kid with a smile on his face & with no side to him.

Terry Goodkind, 72. Author of the "Sword of Truth" novels. The quality of the books varied dramatically over time from very good to laughably bad. Nothing will ever compensate for the TV series that made a total mess of them and (almost) convinced me to never again watch a series or film based on writing that I liked.
